Path of Exile 2: How To Unlock & Use the Currency Exchange

As you delve deeper into the gameplay of Path of Exiles sequel, a facet you may find useful is the Currency Marketplace.

This is a solid way to trade currencies and items, but expect a bit of a learning curve initially.

Great fortune for me, I’ve stumbled upon a helpful guide that will guide me through the process of unraveling the mystery behind the Currency Exchange, making its inner workings crystal clear!

How To Unlock & Use Currency Exchange

In Path of Exile 2, you’ll gain access to the Currency Exchange when you reach the Cruel Difficulty level. This is comparable to a tougher version of New Game Plus.

As a dedicated gamer diving into Path of Exile 2, I always ensure to complete the primary campaign first before advancing further. The storyline in PoE 2, up until the Cruel Difficulty level, encompasses Acts 1 through 3.

When you jump into Cruel Difficulty, the enemies are much tougher.

From now on, you’ll resume your journey back at the beginning of Act 1, retaining all the items and abilities you’ve accumulated up until the conclusion of Act 3. It’s at this stage that the Currency Exchange becomes accessible to you.

In the heart of town centers, you’ll find the Currency Exchange. The first one you’ll encounter is located at Clearfell Encampment within Cruel Act 1.

From here, you can access the system in all the following hubs.

To use the exchange feature, simply interact with the Gambling Vendor, a non-player character (NPC), who will offer the Currency Exchange option when you reach the Cruel Difficulty level in the game.

Using the Currency Exchange in PoE 2 is pretty straightforward once you get the basics down.

Once you unlock it by reaching Cruel Difficulty, head to any of the town merchants.

You’ll locate them either at Clearfell Encampment, Ardura Caravan, or Ziggurat Encampment. (Finn, Risu, and Alva respectively)

You’ll open the Currency Exchange menu when you talk to one of these merchants.

It’s split into “I Want” and “I Have.” In “I Want,” choose what currency or item you’re after.

On the other hand, under “I Have,” you can find the currencies in your inventory for the trade.

The game itself will determine the necessary currency for purchasing your chosen item and show this information as the Market Price.

If the ratio seems beneficial, go ahead with your selection by clicking “Place Order“. Keep in mind that the currency you’ve chosen will be deducted from your available stock.

When you click on the desired item or currency, it will open in a separate window. From there, you can simply move it over to your inventory by dragging it.

Remember that rates can change often, so if an offer seems unusually low, it may be wise to wait for potentially more favorable terms instead.
