Paul Feig Sets the Record Straight: Blake Lively Had No Control Over ‘Another Simple Favor’ Cut!

Feig bluntly responded:

This project is mine, with no one else involved. Blake has been incredibly cooperative and a joy to work alongside. She’s exceptional and a fantastic collaborator; I can’t speak highly enough of her. I just felt it necessary to clarify this point.

If you’re unfamiliar with the ongoing story between Lively and Baldoni, this social media post mentions news articles about the novel “It Ends With Us” having two distinct editions, where each of these celebrities had their unique take on the editing process.

On occasion, Feig has openly supported Lively in public, and this isn’t a new phenomenon. Back in December, following the announcement of Lively’s filing, Feig expressed his favorable collaboration with Lively on the movie “A Simple Favor” and its upcoming sequel. On X-date, he stated:

Working on two films with Blake has been an absolute pleasure. She’s incredibly professional, innovative, cooperative, gifted, and kind – one of the best I’ve ever collaborated with. It’s appalling that she’s had to endure such a malicious smear campaign. In my opinion, it’s unfair and regrettable.

Lately, director Feig refuted speculations about a dispute between Lively and Kendrick, which some suggested had caused the film’s cancellation. He called these rumors “nonsense,” (as quoted on X/Twitter), affirming that the movie was completed and due for release soon, complimenting the “extraordinary acting” of both actresses.

Blake Lively’s Legal Drama: Will It Impact ‘Another Simple Favor‘?

Feig’s unwavering backing persists as Lively grapples with ongoing criticism (a glance at comments on the promotional material for Another Simple Favor reveals a generally unfavorable view of the actress). Beyond the courtroom fuss, spectators expressed disapproval regarding Lively’s conduct during the media tour for It Ends With Us, as she was perceived to have insufficiently addressed the profound themes that the movie presents. In the past, some social media users dug up old interviews that they deemed detrimental to Lively’s image.

On December 21st, Lively initiated a lawsuit against Baldoni and the producers of ‘The Ends With Us’; on January 16th, Baldoni retaliated with a $400 million counterclaim against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, publicist Leslie Sloane, and Sloane’s firm, Vision PR. Both trials have been scheduled for March 2026. Additionally, on February 5th, Lively was sued by a crisis management PR firm, further complicating the legal issues related to ‘The Ends With Us’.

Unfortunately, the legal dispute between Baldoni and Lively might influence how the public perceives the upcoming sequel of Another Simple Favor, as many have eagerly awaited it. The 2018 film, which was both critically acclaimed and commercially successful, stands out as one of Lively’s most noteworthy achievements in her career. To date, it is her highest-grossing movie, trailing only The Town on Rotten Tomatoes. It remains to be seen whether viewers can separate the off-screen problems from their enjoyment of the sequel.

The movie titled “Another Simple Favors” features the talents of Blake Lively, Emily Blunt, and Henry Golding. Starting May 1st, it can be streamed on Amazon’s Prime Video.
