The Marvel Universe continues to thrive, offering fresh content in cinemas as well as on Disney+. Fans who followed the Marvel films sequentially might recall an intriguing hypothesis suggesting Ant-Man could defeat Thanos by shrinking and entering his backside before growing giant. Watching Paul Rudd explain this concept to Jenna Ortega during their work on “Death of a Unicorn” is genuinely enjoyable.
Despite a multitude of queries surrounding forthcoming Marvel films such as the upcoming Avengers instalments, there remains an ongoing buzz among fans regarding theories about previous projects that continue to trend online. During a recent interview with ComicBook about his latest project, Rudd was posed a question concerning whether the Thanos butt strategy could be effective against Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom in future Avengers films. Pondering the idea, he offered his thoughts on the subject.
It occasionally crosses my mind, but isn’t it questionable whether he could have actually defeated Thanos with that method, given that he was supposed to possess the Space Stone (or something similar) at that time?
It’s not incorrect to say that Ant-Man was absent from Avengers: Infinity War, and it was evident as he was part of the team gathering the Infinity Stones. However, in Endgame, the Time Heist brought him back and he used the Stones again. So, if Ant-Man had attempted to kill Thanos using the Thanus theory, it could have been fatal for Paul Rudd’s character.
In this interview, Paul Rudd attempted to bring Jenna Ortega up-to-speed on the concept linking his hero and Thanos. He proposed:
- Rudd: Do you know what we’re talking about? There was a theory — going against Thanos, why didn’t Ant-Man just … instead of Thanos, it was ‘Thanus,’ go up Thanos and then expand.
- Ortega: I thought he was already big … the purple one?
- Rudd: I get really small.
- Ortega: Oh, that’s right, you’re called Ant-Man!
It appears that Jenna Ortega, who stars in Wednesday (a show available on Netflix), hasn’t seemed to follow the Marvel Cinematic Universe closely. Recently, she fondly recalled her small role in Iron Man 2 as a child actress, but it seems she hasn’t continued with the shared universe since then.

Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) have been curious about Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man and his future roles for some time now. The recent film, “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania,” did not do well at the box office, leaving uncertainty about whether he will receive another solo movie. However, it is possible that he could still appear in large ensemble projects.
Audience members expect Ant-Man and other Avengers to appear in either _Avengers: Doomsday_ or _Secret Wars_, as these productions are being worked on. The Russo Brothers are set to rejoin the Marvel Cinematic Universe for these upcoming projects, but details about them are scarce since they’re not included in the 2025 movie release schedule yet.
