Paul Simon has unfortunately had to call off his two scheduled concerts in Philadelphia this weekend, as he’s been experiencing severe, long-term back issues.
Over the weekend, I learned some disappointing news via my favorite singer’s official Instagram account. According to their post, they regretfully need to cancel upcoming shows due to an upcoming minor surgical procedure. I’m keeping them in my thoughts during this time and wishing them a speedy recovery.
I’m truly sorry to share this, but due to a persistent and severe issue with my back, I’m unfortunately forced to cancel my shows tonight, June 28th, and tomorrow night, June 29th, at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia. The pain has escalated today beyond what can be managed, requiring immediate medical attention.

The statement also mentioned it’s undecided whether Simon can rearrange his performances on Saturday and Sunday. Nevertheless, the post suggested that the Grammy-winning artist aims to recoup the canceled Philadelphia shows and finish the remainder of his A Quiet Celebration Tour which began in early April.
Regrettably, we must postpone these performances for now. We lack the capacity to reschedule them at the moment. However, we remain optimistic that after undergoing a minor surgery in the near future, Paul will be well enough to continue the tour and consider making up for these missed dates.”
This version maintains the original meaning while using simpler language and a more conversational tone.
At the close of the announcement, it was mentioned that those who purchased tickets for the weekend shows on both Saturday and Sunday will be eligible for a complete refund. The message ended by suggesting, “In the interim, please visit your original place of purchase or local ticket vendor to claim your full refund.
Simon was slated for three performances at Philadelphia’s Academy of Music. He completed the first one on Thursday.)
