Pauly Shore Remembers Richard Simmons: “I Hope You’re at Peace and Twinkling Up in the Heavens”

As a gamer with a deep appreciation for pop culture history, I’m saddened to learn about the passing of Richard Simmons. His energetic personality and impact on fitness culture during the ’80s were truly groundbreaking. I remember watching his TV exercise show as a kid, inspired by his infectious enthusiasm and charisma. It’s a shame that we won’t get to see him continue twinkling up in the heavens with his iconic dolphin shorts.

Pauly Shore has expressed his condolences following the passing of Richard Simmons, the renowned fitness instructor, at the age of 76 on Saturday.

In the ’80s, I was a well-known face on my own syndicated fitness TV show. Sadly, I passed away at my residence in Los Angeles, according to reports I received.

As a gamer, I recently learned about the sad news that Richard Simmons, who was slated to be portrayed by me in an upcoming biopic, has passed away. I can only imagine that he’s now at peace and shining brightly amongst the stars up in heaven.

“Kindly pass on my heartfelt greetings of love and affection to Mitzi, your mother, and Sammy, your father, from me,” the comedian and actor went on. “You’re truly unique, Richard. Your life has been an inspiring journey. They outdid themselves when they created you. Farewell, my dear friend. May you find eternal peace.”

Simmons had been distancing himself from the Wolper Organization’s biopic since then, expressing in January that he hadn’t granted Shore permission for it. Meanwhile, he was holding discussions with various studios to develop a different, personal biopic based on his own life experiences.

In my role as a fan of Shore’s versatile acting skills, I’d like to share that he brought Simmons to life in “The Court Jester,” a different short film penned and helmed by Jordan Allen-Dutton.

Ricki Lake expressed her sorrow on X, formerly known as Twitter, over the passing of Richard Simmons, whom she held dear. Using the hashtag #richardsimmons, she paid tribute to him with the heartfelt message, “My heart is shattered by this loss. Rest in peace, my beloved friend.” She additionally posted a picture featuring herself, Richard Simmons, and Maria Menounos.

I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Richard Simmons. He was an amazingly gracious and humorous man who had a special place in our hearts as one of the most beloved guests on “Whose Line Is It Anyway.” His presence brought so much joy, happiness, and life-changing moments to countless people through his relentless dedication to making a positive difference. – Greg Proops (as a fan)
