As a long-time cord cutter and avid streamer, I’m always on the lookout for the best deals to save money on my favorite streaming services. And this new bundle from Verizon is a game changer!
Verizon continues to bundle streaming services.
The telecom company’s new deal includes an annual subscription to both Peacock Premium and Netflix Premium at no additional cost for those who purchase the Peacock plan.
Through Verizon’s +play content hub, customers can obtain a special deal: For $80, they secure a yearly Peacock subscription, and in return, they receive a complimentary one-year Netflix Premium plan worth $275. This offer becomes effective today, preceding the 2024 Paris Olympics, during which NBC will broadcast all coverage, along with other live events.
The most favored option for Peacock Premium, NBCUniversal’s streaming service, encompasses all Peacock content, live sports (including Olympic games), and selected live TV channels. On the other hand, Netflix Premium stands out as the priciest plan from Netflix, offering Ultra HD and spatial audio capabilities, along with the convenience for four devices to stream simultaneously.
Instead of the new Verizon bundle following the standard trend of monthly plans in bundled streaming services, it opts for an annual approach instead. In contrast, other offers such as Verizon’s Netflix and Max, Disney+, Max and Hulu, and Comcast’s Peacock, Apple TV+ and Netflix bundles primarily focus on providing attractive monthly prices for consumers, while also meeting the objectives of entertainment companies, like minimizing customer attrition.
An extra perk of the latest deal is that it comes with Netflix’s priciest subscription, boasting an ad-free experience and top-notch video and audio quality. While Netflix has predominantly teamed up for bundles offering its cheaper ad-included version, its high-end plan might bring in comparable profits. Previously, Netflix collaborated with Verizon on a few such bundles, featuring NFL+, Starz, and Masterclass. However, Peacock represents a significantly larger platform compared to these past partnerships.
Additionally, this highlights the importance of telecommunications companies and other external parties with their own customer bases. They can contribute to offsetting bundle costs if necessary.
