Peacock’s Next Four Scripted Shows Are From Digital Creators (Exclusive)

Four unique series from Peacock are set to premiere this month, and here’s the exciting twist: These shows have been created by innovators in the realm of social media video content.

Starting next Wednesday, May 19th, I’m thrilled to share that four original series from emerging artists are set to premiere on our streaming platform, all flying under the Peacock Emerging Artist Series banner! Each series will be available in full at launch, so you can binge-watch them right away. Can’t wait to see these fresh talents shine!

As a gamer, I was thrilled when our team got selected for NBCUniversal’s accelerator program. After a whirlwind journey through the program, we managed to seal some development deals with them.

Furthermore, it’s a fantastic opportunity to introduce the immense audience these creators have amassed on social media giants like Instagram and TikTok to our streaming platform, offering them extended, high-quality content.

In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Josh Feldman, Chief Marketing Officer of NBCUniversal Advertising & Partnerships, stated that each series showcases the creator’s unique style. He explained that these narratives, which they’ve been crafting for years, are given an enhanced platform in long-form premium video. Furthermore, he noted that not only do the creators develop and direct their series from idea to screen, but they also star in them, making a significant contribution to the productions by writing, producing, and acting in them.

1. In “The Warehouse Phase,” Curtis-Beard portrays an artist who is often disregarded, forced to venture into the realm of content production reluctantly.
2. During “The Kouncil” series, Florence embarks on a journey of recovery after experiencing a heartrending separation.
3. In “Older Hotter Wiser,” Kerrigan’s character offers a novel interpretation of the road trip genre.
4. In “People Like Me,” Vongirdner seeks advice from his therapist to navigate the complexities of life more effectively.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve been part of an exciting journey spanning multiple years at NBCUniversal, where we’ve been nurturing fresh talent and embracing creators who lead the way on social media platforms. The fruits of this labor are now four captivating shows that are about to hit the screens!

The program for nurturing original creators was formed by 11 social media pioneers who collectively boasted over 10 million followers. They joined NBCU, where they were guided by various individuals within the company, undertook numerous projects for us, and familiarized themselves with our business. Feldman stated that each of these creators entered into development agreements with Universal Studio Group to produce original shows that reflected their unique perspectives. During this period, each creator was assigned a development mentor to aid them in creating both scripted and unscripted content.

NBCU has arranged for BetterHelp and the U.S. Army to act as initial supporters. BetterHelp will be incorporated into “People Like Me” to emphasize mental health issues, while the Army will utilize the platform to showcase their services.

Telemundo Studios produced The Kouncil, with Tandem Pictures producing the other three shows.
