Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba actor Vikrant Massey says he was stereotyped as ‘poor, malnourished’ boy-next-door because of his physical appearance

As a lifestyle expert with an eye for the unconventional and appreciation for the evolving narrative of storytelling, I find Vikrant Massey’s journey to be truly inspiring. In an industry that often pigeonholes its actors, Massey has managed to break free from stereotypes and showcase his versatility through his choice of roles.

Actor Vikrant Massey is getting ready for the premiere of his highly anticipated series Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba. In a recent interview with Mid-day, he discussed how he works to make his complex character more relatable to viewers. The actor from “The 12th Fail” commented on how storytelling has evolved significantly over the past decade, and that unconventional characters have gained popularity because they resonate with audiences.

Vikrant noted, “If you can portray an unquestionably villainous character in a way that makes it seem more human, you’ll discover many points of connection with the audience.”

37-year-old actor Massey, soon to appear in Netflix’s Sector 36, admitted that people often have preconceived notions about the kind of performances they expect from him. He explained, “I was typecast as a poverty-stricken, undernourished boy-next-door. However, I’ve been fortunate to work with writers and producers who saw my potential beyond my physical appearance or assumed persona.”

Vikrant Massey emphasized that the second half of Haseen Dillruba offered a refreshing change for those who had pigeonholed him, and hinted at an unexpected departure from his usual roles next year. Additionally, he expressed that repeating similar roles has become monotonous for him, and finding new challenges is crucial to avoid getting stuck in a rut.

As an ardent admirer, I’m sharing Jimmy Sheirgill’s insightful words from his interview: “You can’t keep repeating the same actions, there are instances when you delve deep into a character and bring it home, and then there are moments when you yearn for a mindless comedy.” Massey further mentioned that challenging the audience’s preconceived notions is tough, but the key lies in delivering unexpected performances.

In a fresh update, the recently released movie “Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba,” starring Taapsee Pannu and Sunny Kaushal, produced by Colour Yellow Productions and T-Series Films, is now streaming on Netflix. Following this, Vikrant will be seen as the main actor in the upcoming film titled “Sector 36” alongside Deepak Dobriyal. Notably, “Sector 36” appears to be a crime thriller that seems to draw inspiration from the infamous Nithari case of 2006.
