Pierce Brosnan Gives His Blessing to Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the Next Potential James Bond

A retired 007 is giving his stamp of approval.

Among all the actors rumored to potentially take on the role of the next James Bond, Pierce Brosnan offers words of support for Aaron Taylor-Johnson, whom he previously collaborated with in the 2009 drama film “The Greatest.

Brosnan expressed his opinion, stating, “He’s exceptionally talented,” to Yahoo Entertainment. Interestingly, I had the pleasure of casting him in a film from the past titled ‘The Greatest’. In that production, he portrayed the main character, who was referred to as ‘the Greatest’.

The character from MobLand kept expressing admiration for Taylor-Johnson, stating, “This young talent walked onto set and seized the moment, brimming with passion and vitality. I believe, if he aspired to it, pursued it, and earned it, he could excel magnificently.”

Or,

The character from MobLand repeatedly complimented Taylor-Johnson, saying, “When this young man entered the set, he not only occupied the space but also infused it with passion and zest. If he desired it, sought it, and achieved it, I am confident he would shine brilliantly.

Indeed, Pierce Brosnan portrayed the famous smooth secret agent in the movies “Golden Eye” (1995), “Die Another Day” (1997), “The World Is Not Enough” (1999), and “Tomorrow Never Dies” (2002). Later, Daniel Craig stepped into the role with his Bond films “Casino Royale” (2006), “Quantum of Solace” (2008), “Skyfall” (2012), “Spectre” (2015) and most recently, “No Time to Die” (2021).

It was announced earlier this year that Amazon MGM Studios will be taking over the James Bond film series and related projects for the future.

Regarding the question of who will succeed as the next Bond character, Seth Abramovitch from The Hollywood Reporter predicted last year his guess on the matter. He stated that, much like in the past when Daniel Craig was a surprising choice for the role in 2005, Barbara Broccoli tends to make decisions based on instinct rather than popular opinion. Therefore, Abramovitch anticipates that the identity of the new James Bond will be revealed in 2025, and it won’t be Taylor-Johnson. Instead, he thinks an English actor who is on the verge of becoming a household name but not yet overly familiar would be the perfect fit for the role. He specifically mentioned Josh O’Connor as his pick due to his captivating smile, ability to deliver a witty one-liner effortlessly, and abundant charisma. It remains to be seen if this prediction comes true.
