As an ardent admirer of Priyanka Chopra Jonas, I find her journey to be nothing short of inspiring. Her resilience and determination are truly remarkable, especially when faced with such profound personal loss. The story of how she channeled her grief into the fight scenes of Mary Kom is a testament to her unwavering spirit and dedication.
More recently, Priyanka Chopra Jonas graced the Red Sea International Film Festival. She was one of the esteemed celebrities who strolled down the famed red carpet at this prestigious gathering, leaving quite an impression on everyone present. Throughout the event, she engaged with the media and shared intriguing insights into her personal and professional journey. In these discussions, she opened up about drawing strength from her father’s passing to execute the fight scenes in Mary Kom, and resuming work only four days after his funeral.
Recently, our team at TopMob had a chat with Priyanka Chopra, during which she shared emotional memories of her late father. Specifically, it was at the Red Sea International Film Festival where she disclosed that her father, Ashok Chopra, passed away in the same month she planned to begin filming Mary Kom.
During that period, all sets for the boxing sequences had been constructed beforehand, but unfortunately, her father passed away. Consequently, she returned to work just four days after his funeral, feeling it was what he would have wanted. She channeled her sorrow into those fight scenes as she recalled. Remarkably, she spent an entire month filming grueling fight sequences day after day without a break. Subsequently, she moved on to film Gunday alongside Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh.
When Sanjay Leela Bhansali attended my father’s funeral, he gave me a heartfelt hug as I grieved. In that moment, this renowned filmmaker told me not to rush back to work. He empathized with my situation, acknowledging it, and mentioned we could halt production until I felt ready to return.
Despite her father’s tragic passing, Priyanka Chopra understood he wouldn’t have wished for her to halt her career. Consequently, she returned to filming only a few days after his untimely death. Moreover, while working on Bajirao Mastani, she secured the lead role in the American thriller drama series Quantico.
