Completely unexpectedly, there’s news that remastered editions of Tomb Raider IV, V, and VI will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch as early as February 14, 2025. The announcement trailer from PlayStation has garnered significant attention, with many retweeting it since its release.
As per the blog post from PlayStation, Aspyr and Crystal Dynamics – the teams responsible for Tomb Raider I-III Remastered – have also contributed to this project. Much like its predecessor, we can expect a collection of three games boasting enhanced visuals, additional secrets, both classic and modern control options, trophies, visible boss health bars, and a Photo Mode.
The pre-orders are now available! Here’s where you can get this trio bundle at these prices: $13.49 on Steam, $29.99 each on Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch. Additionally, Steam has posted the minimum and recommended system requirements for the game on its storepage.
A Remaster With Strong Expectations
Following a highly successful run with Aspyr’s Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, earning $2 million on Steam alone, it was inevitable that the studio would finish the saga by remastering the latter part. Thankfully, they’ve remained consistent with their strategy and maintained competitive pricing to draw in customers.
As a gamer, I’m eagerly anticipating this bundle, drawn by the warm embrace of nostalgia for past gaming memories. The exceptional job done with the previous remaster has set high expectations, and I can’t wait to see how they’ve updated the visuals, controls, and expanded the game content. It’s like Apple’s Watch app, streamlining the management of my old-school gaming experience with modern conveniences—a perfect blend of the past and present!
The fourth, fifth, and sixth installments of the Tomb Raider series, namely Tomb Raider IV: The Last Revelation (1999), Tomb Raider V: Chronicles (2000), and Tomb Raider VI: The Angel of Darkness (2003), were initially launched on PlayStation and PC platforms. In Tomb Raider IV, players encountered a more story-oriented gameplay; Tomb Raider V delved into Lara’s past adventures through a series of flashbacks; finally, Tomb Raider VI was marked by its darker tone, advanced stealth mechanics, and intricate narrative.
