- Pokémon Champions is coming to mobile and Switch in 2026
- It features multiplayer player battles where you can use your Pokémon from Scarlet and Violet
- Alternatively, you can recruit and train Pokémon within the game itself
Today during Pokémon Presents, we got some intriguing updates. Of particular note was Pokémon Champions, a forthcoming title that emphasizes the combat element of the franchise.
In 2026, the game will become available on iOS, Android, and Nintendo Switch. It offers crossplay across these platforms, and also supports integration with Pokémon Home along with Scarlet and Violet. This means that for the first time ever, you can take your beloved (or formidable) Pokémon companions into battles on mobile devices. However, the real attraction isn’t just about recruiting new Pokémon within the game itself; the main draw is something else entirely.
Regardless of how you organize your team, you’ll have the opportunity to engage in ranked matches or private bouts. If you’re seeking a challenge against unknown opponents, opt for ranked battles. On the other hand, if you wish to endure a series of defeats at the hands of your younger brother who always seems to counter your Pokémon moves, choose private battles. This is purely hypothetical, I assure you I harbor no feelings about it! You can select either single or double battle modes depending on your preference.

Pokémon Champions also offers up a few different ways to train your Pokémon. With it, you can tweak their stats, teach them new moves, adjust their nature, and even, judging by the trailer, change their ability. It does appear to cost some form of in-game currency to do all of this, however, so you might want to stick to perfecting your Chandelure in Scarlet before moving it over to Champions. Unless there are restrictions on that we don’t know about yet, of course.
For me, the idea of online battling, even though I’m not particularly skilled at it due to my attachment to certain Pokémon, remains incredibly appealing. The prospect of being able to engage in these battles directly on my phone has had me eagerly anticipating the launch of Champions since we first learned about it earlier this year.
In 2026, expect the debut of Pokémon Champions on iOS, Android, and Nintendo Switch. Regrettably, there’s no definite release date as of now, but we’ll keep you updated once that changes. Meanwhile, consider exploring some top-notch Pokémon games accessible on mobile devices.
