Porsche Sends Off the 911 Dakar with One-Off Sonderwunsch Spec

As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for virtual racing and a soft spot for high-performance machines, this Porsche 911 Dakar Sonderwunsch edition left me spellbound! The blend of raw power, off-road capabilities, and artistic flair is something that would make any racer’s heart skip a beat.

Porsche has concluded its limited 911 Dakar series by introducing a custom-tailored Sonderwunsch edition, specifically designed for an Italian sports car enthusiast. This exclusive vehicle was unveiled at the Porsche Museum in Zuffenhausen and seamlessly combines speed with a tribute to rally racing through artful design elements.

The Sonderwunsch 911 Dakar, being the second batch of 2,500 units produced, embodies the raw off-road essence of Porsche’s sports car adaptable for rough terrains. This model is equipped to handle both trails and paved roads, with enhancements such as stronger aluminum recovery hooks and broader wheel arches in its standard 911 Dakar variant. It boasts a 50mm higher stance compared to the Carrera. Under its hood, a 3L twin-turbo six-cylinder engine resounds with more than 470 hp and 420 lb-ft torque, producing a robust boxer sound.

This ultimate model showcases a distinctive three-color paint job: Signal Yellow, Gentian Blue Metallic, and Lampedusa Blue, a special shade developed in partnership with the collector. The design is inspired by the Rallye Design Package and the 1984 Paris-Dakar Rally. The alloy wheels have spokes and edges painted to match these colors, and the LED Matrix headlights boast a custom blue accent ring.

On the inside, the Sonderwunsch detailing persists with Speedyellow threading and accents contrasting against a smooth black upholstery. The headrests are embroidered with “911 Dakar” text, while a Speedyellow leather insert embellishes the gear selector. Furthermore, LED projectors display the Sonderwunsch logo onto the ground when the doors open, highlighting its unique design.

Prior to moving to its next location, the Sonderwunsch 911 Dakar is set to stay on showcase at the Porsche Museum, allowing fans one last chance to admire Porsche’s fresh interpretation of their legendary off-road emblem.
