Prisoner of War

The highly talented actor who played John Wick, and is widely regarded as an underappreciated action hero, will display his unique skillset in the World War II setting, coming soon this year. Adkins, recognized by fans of action films due to his roles in series like Undisputed, Accident Man, Avengement, and One Shot, has only recently seen his stardom rise following his impressive performance as Killa Harkan, leader of the German Table, in John Wick: Chapter 4. Now, he finds himself struggling for survival as a prisoner of war.

Fresh information about the project has come to light. Previously known as “Death March,” the title of the war action thriller has been altered to “Prisoner of War.” In late last year, it was acquired for distribution by Well Go USA, and it’s now slated for a release window in September (as reported by Action-Flix).

Under the direction of Louis Mandylor, who worked with Adkins in the Debt Collector series before, the film Prisoner of War is inspired by real events, specifically the Bataan death march, during which thousands of Filipino and American soldiers were compelled to walk over 60-70 miles after the Japanese victory at the Battle of Bataan. In this movie, Adkins plays a pilot who becomes a prisoner of war and must struggle for survival. For more details, you can read the official synopsis below.

During World War II, a British pilot ends up on a shore after being thrown from his aircraft. He’s captured by the Japanese and held in one of their prison camps prior to the notorious Bataan death march. Before that, though, he’s subjected to brutal torture at the hands of the camp commander and is compelled to battle various skilled Japanese fighters for survival.

Scott Adkins Has Plenty of Action Movie Mayhem in the Pipeline

In addition to Scott Adkins, the movie “Prisoner of War” boasts an impressive international cast, including Michael Copon from “As Good as Dead” and “Power Rangers: Time Force”, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone known for “3 Days in Malay” and “The Equalizer 2”, Michael Rene Walton from “Reptile”, Gary Cairns famous for “The Channel” and “Justified”, Shane Kosugi recognized by “Nine Deaths of the Ninja”, Masanori Mimoto who has worked on “Baby Assassins” and “Hydra”, Gabbi Garcia from “Unbreak My Heart”, and Peter Shinkoda, best known for his roles in “I, Robot” and “Daredevil”. This ensemble plays the cruel camp commander.

In addition to his role as a Prisoner of War, Scott Adkins is poised to play a villain in this month’s western action movie, Day of Reckoning. Here, he finds himself on the wrong side of the law and squaring off against Billy Zane and Zach Roerig from The Vampire Diaries. Moreover, Adkins is set to team up with Jean-Claude Van Damme, his co-star from Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning, for the Kickboxer reboot sequel, Kickboxer: Armageddon. He will also join forces again with The Raid’s Iko Uwais for Skyline: Warpath and fight alongside Gladiator and Blood Diamond star Djimon Hounsou in the martial arts thriller One Last Fight. However, what’s most intriguing is Adkins’ reunion with his John Wick co-star Marko Zaror in the action thriller Diablo, which he claims will be “the best martial arts action film of 2025?!!”.
