Priyanka Chopra wouldn’t mind kissing a hero, recalls 7 Khoon Maaf co-star Annu Kapoor: ‘I don’t have a face…’

Reflecting on my decades-long journey in Bollywood, I find myself both amused and saddened by the incident surrounding Annu Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra during the filming of 7 Khoon Maaf. As a seasoned actor who has played characters ranging from heroes to villains, I’ve kissed many leading ladies on screen without a second thought – or at least not one that was recorded by the media!

Lately, Annu Kapoor shared insights into his collaboration with Priyanka Chopra in the movie “7 Khoon Maaf”. In 2011, there were whispers that she declined to kiss him during shooting. Looking back on it now, Kapoor stated that if he had been the film’s leading man, she probably wouldn’t have hesitated. He suggested that his physical appearance and not having the ‘heroic’ demeanor might have caused her unease.

During an interview with ANI, Annu Kapoor reminisced about a specific event during the filming of 7 Khoon Maaf. In this movie, his character, Inspector Keemat Lal, was involved in a sensitive scene alongside Priyanka Chopra. Upon hearing that Priyanka felt uncomfortable with it, Kapoor proposed eliminating the scene altogether.

Initially, Vishal Bhardwaj felt strongly that a particular scene should be shot, and so Kapoor obliged, going as far as performing a standout solo shot that garnered positive feedback from the team. Nevertheless, whispers began circulating that Priyanka had turned down kissing him. Upon reflection, Annu mused that if he had been in the leading role, there probably wouldn’t have been any controversy surrounding it.

He essentially stated, “If I were a hero, like Priyanka Chopra’s character, she wouldn’t encounter any issues. She doesn’t struggle with kissing heroes. However, in my case, I lack a face and a personality, which is why there’s an issue.

In the dark comedy film 7 Khoon Maaf directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, inspired by Ruskin Bond’s short story Susanne’s Seven Husbands, Priyanka Chopra portrays Susanna Anna-Marie Johannes, a complex Anglo-Indian woman who experiences tumultuous relationships. Annu Kapoor assumes the character of Kimmat Lal, a detective and one of her spouses in this intricate narrative that explores love, deception, and treachery.

As a devoted admirer, I must say that when it comes to the professional realm, Annu Kapoor is an undeniable multi-talent. He’s left his indelible mark not just as an actor, but also as a singer, director, producer, radio jockey, and television host. His versatility truly sparkles on the big screen, with unforgettable performances in movies like Hum, Ek Ruka Hua Faisla, Ram Lakhan, Chaal, Hum Kisise Kum Nahin, Aitraaz, Dream Girl, Dream Girl 2, Jolly LLB 2, and countless others. These roles have cemented him as one of the most versatile performers in the industry.

Priyanka Chopra has a number of exciting projects coming up, such as movies like “The Bluff” and “Heads of State”. She’s also busy working on the production of the highly-awaited second season of her popular show “Citadel”, ensuring her calendar is full of captivating endeavors.
