As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for personal growth and family dynamics, I cannot help but empathize deeply with Madhu Chopra’s heartfelt confession about sending her daughter Priyanka to boarding school at such a tender age. It is an experience that many parents can relate to, the constant struggle between what we believe is best for our children and the fear of unintentionally causing harm.
Priyanka Chopra shares a strong relationship with her mom Madhu Chopra and has frequently shown appreciation for her. In a recent conversation, Madhu admitted to a decision in her life that she still feels remorseful about – sending Priyanka to boarding school at the age of seven. She questioned if she might have been too harsh as a mother at that time.
During a chat on the Something Bigger Show with Rodrigo Canelas, Madhu Chopra shared her thoughts about enrolling Priyanka Chopra into boarding school at seven years old. She admitted that she now regrets this choice, but felt it was right at the time. Madhu ji reminisced about an afternoon when she was in the kitchen while Priyanka’s father returned from work.
In simpler terms, The girl’s mom was told by PC (her dad) to pass on a message, but she said she was engrossed in playing with dolls instead. Upon hearing this, Madhu Chopra assumed that her daughter was acting just like she used to when Madhu was busy working and would say she was ‘pretending’ to be occupied.’
As Madhu ji shared, upon hearing Priyanka’s words, I found myself questioning my choices as a parent. However, I reminded myself of the reason behind sending PC to boarding school – it was all about fostering her personal growth and development.
Madhu ji recollected that Priyanka was not mentally ready when she attended the boarding school. She expressed her feelings by saying, “I’m not sure, was I too harsh as a mother? I continue to feel remorse. I still shed tears over it. It was challenging for me as well.
The doctor added that they had a discussion where she mentioned visiting Priyanka every weekend. She explained, “This was causing disruption as she found it hard to adapt to boarding school life. On Saturdays, she would eagerly wait for my arrival, and I’d spend Sundays with her. However, the teacher would often ask me not to visit.” This is how Madhu ji remembered the conversation.
She commented, ‘That was a regrettable choice, but luckily for us, Priyanka managed to land on her feet and things worked out fine.’
Right now, Priyanka Chopra, accompanied by her husband Nick Jonas and their child Malti Marie Chopra Jonas, finds herself in London. Her schedule is filled with work as she’s actively filming for the second installment of her series, Citadel, which revolves around the spy genre.
