As a seasoned lifestyle expert with a keen eye for the nuances of Bollywood, I must say that Isha Koppikar’s journey is indeed fascinating. Her candor and unwavering spirit are commendable, especially when reflecting on her experiences in the industry.
In the ’90s, Isha Koppikar launched her acting career in South Indian films, eventually rising to prominence as one of Bollywood’s leading ladies during the 2000s. Lately, this actress has spoken candidly about her experience working on Shah Rukh Khan‘s movie Don and acknowledges that Priyanka Chopra was cast in a more powerful role compared to hers. Furthermore, she expressed her enthusiasm for tackling the challenging action-oriented part if given another opportunity.
In a heart-to-heart chat with Galatta India, I found myself reflecting on my journey in Bollywood, particularly my stint in the movie Don. When it comes to the impactful role Priyanka Chopra played in that film, I must admit she had a more significant part compared to me.
Priyanka’s part seemed more impactful than mine, and I would gladly sacrifice both arms (if I had multiple) to play that role. To be completely forthright, as a seasoned taekwondo blackbelt with 25 years of training under my belt, she openly expressed this.
Koppikar boldly asserted that she has full faith in her skills to excel in action-oriented movie roles, even going as far as challenging any female lead. Additionally, she boasted about her ability to deliver superior action sequences compared to actresses younger than herself. However, she concluded by acknowledging the ever-evolving nature of the film industry, expressing that ‘What’s past is past,’ and there’s more exciting content in store.
In a candid conversation, Isha (from Hum Tum) shared her sentiments about not being included in Don 2, expressing a sense of pain at the exclusion. However, she disclosed that she had attempted to connect with the film’s creators, only to learn that the casting for the sequel had already been finalized.
She felt hurt that almost everyone else from the original cast was in the sequel, but she wasn’t among them. But she let it go, saying, “You win some, you lose some, but yes, I was hurt.”
In 2006, Shah Rukh Khan’s debut movie “Don” was helmed by Farhan Akhtar. This film served as a contemporary adaptation of the 1978 hit featuring Amitabh Bachchan. The remake turned out to be a box office success and boasted performances from Priyanka Chopra, Arjun Rampal, Boman Irani, Om Puri, and other notable actors in pivotal roles.
