Pro-Israel Michael Rapaport: Hollywood Won’t Hire Me

Michael Rapaport is no victim. He’ll tell you that himself.

Instead of directly quoting, let me rephrase for you: The former actor, now a comedian, delivers witty remarks and provocative opinions through his social media platforms or his podcast titled “I Am Rapaport.

His social media streams are filled with quick opinions about a wide range of topics, including sports and politics. Lately, he seems particularly interested in the events following October 7th.

Rapaport could possibly be the most vocal figure in Hollywood, advocating for the remaining hostages and condemning the brutality of Hamas. Many others seem to keep quiet on this issue. Notably, he has also appeared in the recent documentary addressing antisemitism titled “October 8.

According to a recent interview he gave to i24News, as reported by Fox News, that strategy could potentially be reducing the income of the highly successful individual.

In simpler terms, the individual has faced threats and challenges in various aspects of their life, such as politics, social media, career opportunities as an actor, and more. Despite these difficulties, they have no regrets because they felt it was not a matter of choice but a natural part of who they are, to be supportive of Jews, Israel, and their community.

After October 7th, it appeared once more that Hollywood’s ethical standards were compromised. Indeed, some celebrities put their names to collective letters denouncing the cruelty. However, the entertainment industry swiftly showed its stance by taking action, effectively kneeling in solidarity.

Several notable figures such as John Ondrasik from Five For Fighting, Debra Messing, and Patricia Heaton have consistently shown their backing towards the hostages. However, even those who often advocate for Jewish causes, like Steven Spielberg and Adam Sandler, have kept a low profile regarding this specific issue.

The bigger surprise?

At award shows after award show, the issue of hostages goes unaddressed, despite actors often voicing their opinions about various contentious topics throughout awards season – be it at music or movie events. However, surprisingly, no actor chose to use their time on stage to bring attention to the situation of these hostages.

Rapaport took that personally and mocked his fellow actors for their silence.

After October 7th, several actors-turned-activists became involved in the pro-Palestinian cause, with celebrities such as Melissa Barrera, Susan Sarandon, John Cusack, and Rachel Zegler among them.

1. Barriera has faced professional consequences following comments that others considered offensive towards Jewish people, losing her role in the “Scream” series. However, it seems she is making a comeback. Similarly, Sarandon’s controversial remarks led to her agent parting ways with her two years ago.

2. Barriera was removed from the “Scream” franchise due to some comments deemed antisemitic, but now appears to be rebuilding her career. In a similar vein, Sarandon lost her agent as a result of a rant that many found tone-deaf two years ago.

Actress Sarandon, known for her roles in “The Fabulous Four” (2024) and “The Six Triple Eight,” will be sharing the screen with others in the upcoming Netflix series “Nonnas,” set to premiere next month.

In recent years, the inflammatory social media outbursts from Cusack, which appeared to be calls for increased aggression towards Tesla vehicles, have become more prominent than his on-screen roles. Lately, he has been focusing mainly on independent film projects.

Zegler’s professional woes extend far beyond her political commentary.

What about Rapaport?

He’s not given any reason for his actions to be stopped. He is a Jewish individual expressing his backing for Israel and advocating for the release of unharmed captives.

He has never been involved in incidents such as accidentally shooting and killing a cinematographer on a movie set, or hurling chairs at people, or facing allegations of grooming minors. However, his past does contain an acknowledgment that he harassed an ex-girlfriend. Despite this, he has consistently received income over the last 28 years.

Despite his long-standing relationship with Hollywood, an industry that has frequently utilized him across various screens, they now apparently find him unnecessary.
