The first time I switched from Raider to Ironeye, I had been having a blast with my headbutting abilities and creating large rocks that seemed designed to disrupt the game. However, each fight against Nightlord grew progressively challenging as they would evade my attacks, making it difficult to land a hit. Even when I managed to get close enough for a melee, the risk didn’t seem commensurate with the damage I was inflicting.
If Nightreign possessed Sekiro’s unending running endurance, the scenario would be entirely different. However, pursuing every Nightlord will leave you breathless, struggling to deliver attacks as you approach them.
Additionally, my heavy and sluggish weapons were less effective at reviving fallen teammates because they consumed a lot of stamina with each attack. However, I found Ironeye to be quite beneficial. In retrospect, it makes perfect sense – considering that most Nightlord bosses are extremely agile or fly out of reach, ranged combat is superior. There are several factors that make bows effective in Nightreign:
This version maintains the original meaning while using simpler and more natural language, making it easier to read and understand.
- Bows give you consistent damage while bosses are moving all over the place, especially against flying Nightlords where melee has a massive disadvantage.
- Bows are the best at reviving downed party members. You can lock on, manually aim, and if you use something like the Barrage skill, you’ll have them back up very fast and even at a distance.
- Ranged weapons have infinite ammo in Nightreign, so you can keep firing, and you can even manually aim for weak points to get additional stuns and flinches on enemies and bosses.
As a ranged spellcaster, Recluse struggles with FP regeneration during casting unless you continuously maintain her affinity residue rotation. In contrast, Ironeye is capable of shooting an infinite number of arrows, making him a highly reliable damage dealer in about 90% of Nightlord boss encounters.
Beyond that, he doesn’t have to confront the danger of getting extremely close, as melee fighters often do. In truth, if you aren’t playing Ironeye, be mindful of ranged weapons, especially if your character is high in dexterity like Duchess or Executor. Both characters can deal damage with a bow, considering their scaling, or simply carry one for emergency revives from a distance.
Apart from his impressive bow, Ironeye’s true strength lies in his diverse skill set of abilities. He can swiftly move forward, striking an enemy and making them vulnerable to extra damage, not just from you but your entire team. However, it’s when he uses this skill as an evasion technique, thanks to its extensive invincibility period, that it truly stands out.
Is there a difficult move from this Nightlord that gives you trouble? Try dodging and marking them simultaneously, as this will boost the damage dealt while also providing additional harm. Interestingly, you don’t necessarily need to hit an opponent for it to grant invulnerability frames; use it whenever you require a brief period of invincibility. Moreover, this move has a swift recharge time, which can be enhanced with relics.
As a gamer, I can’t help but appreciate the versatility of Ironeye’s ultimate move, Single Shot. This bad boy fires a colossal arrow that not only deals stagger damage but also obliterates most tiny foes in an area around it. Pairing this skill with a Duchess in your team is a match made in gaming heaven. The rapid-fire bow skills of Ironeye ensure that you can pull off the art quite frequently. And let’s not forget about the lengthy animation – it’s a blessing, really, because you’re invulnerable while casting any ultimate move.
The overwhelming affection for Ironeye and his infinite arrows doesn’t necessarily mean he’s the ideal Nightlord choice for every scenario, as some situations require melee prowess; however, given that Ironeye has a high dexterity score, it’s also feasible to use him with daggers, twinblades, or rapiers. The unfortunate aspect of playing Ironeye is that there’s only one legendary bow in Nightreign, which unfortunately has a slow draw speed.
Once you give Ironeye a try, it won’t take long for you to understand just how significant an edge ranged weapons can provide when facing some of Nightreign’s toughest bosses.
