As a dedicated fan of independent horror films and a follower of Shaked Berenson’s Entertainment Squad, I couldn’t be more thrilled about their latest acquisition, “The Unraveling.” Berenson’s keen eye for unique and thought-provoking horror projects never fails to impress me.
Shaked Berenson’s Entertainment Squad, a small film distribution business, has obtained global rights to the psychological thriller “The Unraveling” produced by AZ If Productions. Starting October 8, this movie will be distributed under Entertainment Squad’s horror genre label, The Horror Collective.
The company will be responsible for launching the film in English-speaking markets such as the U.S., Canada, the UK, and Ireland. They will oversee its distribution domestically, and collaborate with their partner Radioactive Pictures for release in Australia and New Zealand. Additionally, they will grant rights to distribute the film in other countries.
Kd Amond, the director, made the film “The Unraveling” as a sequel to his previous work “Faye.” According to the production company, “Faye” was the first solo-female lead horror feature in American cinema. In both productions, Amond worked alongside Sarah Zanotti, who contributed to the script and played the main role. Alongside Zanotti, Sam Brooks (known for his roles in Netflix’s “Fear Street” trilogy and CW’s “Stargirl”) appears in “The Unraveling.”
As someone who has gone through the harrowing experience of a traumatic brain injury, I can deeply resonate with the chilling and emotional exploration of trauma, paranoia, guilt, and love offered by “The Unraveling” through the lens of horror. The story follows a woman’s descent into a living nightmare as she becomes convinced that her loving husband has been replaced by an impostor.
The CEO of Entertainment Squad, Shaked Berenson, praised the film “The Unraveling,” stating it skillfully merges psychological terror with a heartfelt storyline, resulting in a movie that is not only frightening but also emotionally stirring.
I was deeply moved by Amond’s creation, where they delved into the neglected realms of trauma and its profound impact on the mind. The film carried spiritual undercurrents that Sarah and Amond skillfully wove in. As for me, I found “The Unraveling” to be a powerful exploration of a woman’s journey towards accepting the chilling repercussions of denial.
I’m thrilled to share that I’m part of the Entertainment Squad, and we’re taking the next big step with our film, “The Unraveling.” We’ll be debuting international sales during the Toronto International Film Festival!
