As a dedicated film critic, I must share the heartbreaking news that “The Equalizer” won’t return for a sixth season on CBS. This announcement has stirred a whirlwind of emotions, particularly within our beloved leading lady, Queen Latifah, who has poured her heart and soul into every episode.
Prior to the final episode of The Equalizer’s fifth season, which is scheduled for May 4, it was confirmed that the series has been canceled. Star Queen Latifah expressed her gratitude to fans for their support and hinted at future projects on social media, sharing a photo from the show featuring her character with a gun drawn and the caption “I’m the one you call when you can’t dial 911.
Entering the fantastic character of Robyn was everything I anticipated, as confirmed by my statement,” she expressed. “[Shakim Compere] and I at Flavor Unit are always thrilled to create such roles and projects, hoping they resonate with you in the same way they do with us. The Equalizer surpassed all our expectations, and working on it for five seasons feels almost unreal. I’m grateful to our outstanding cast, crew, producers, and writers! And I can’t help but express my gratitude towards the FANS! Your loyalty, enthusiasm, and unwavering support are what keeps us going. We can never thank you enough; your dedication means the world to us.
She mentioned, “Rest assured, I’ll return with a bang in something fresh very shortly. I can hardly contain my excitement to present it to you.
As a dedicated cinephile, I’ve been eagerly waiting to hear about the fate of “The Equalizer” at CBS. The suspense has been palpable, with the network set to reveal its 2025-26 schedule on May 7th. Unfortunately, it looks like our wait for more adventures in the world of “The Equalizer” may not be over, as the spinoff didn’t receive a series order and was quickly shelved after “Bosch: Legacy” wrapped up its run.
It’s disheartening to see other shows like “FBI: International,” “FBI: Most Wanted,” and “Poppa’s House” also get the axe by CBS. Here’s hoping that we’ll still have a chance to return to these fictional worlds in some capacity, either on CBS or another platform.
Queen Latifah Says Goodbye to The Equalizer
Apart from acting as the lead character, Queen Latifah additionally took on the role of an executive producer in the show The Equalizer. Alongside her, other executive producers on the series were Compere, Joseph C. Wilson, Debra Martin Chase, John Davis, John Fox, Loretha Jones, and Rob Hanning. Joining Queen Latifah on screen were Tory Kittles, Adam Goldberg, Liza Lapira, Laya DeLeon Hayes, and Lorraine Toussaint.
On May 4th, CBS will air the series finale of the fifth season of The Equalizer. This episode marks the conclusion of the show.
