Queen Latifah is responding to the news of The Equalizer’s cancellation.
CBS declared on Friday that the run of the drama series, “The Equalizer,” would conclude after five successful seasons. On Instagram, the multiple Emmy and Grammy-winning actor expressed their thoughts about wrapping up the show, acknowledging that portraying Robyn McCall, a former CIA agent with a knack for action, was every bit as exhilarating as they had imagined.
Shakim [Compere] and I at Flavor Unit are constantly thrilled about bringing such roles and projects to fruition, and all we can do is hope you enjoy them as much as we do. The Equalizer surpassed every expectation we had for it, and being able to work on this series for five seasons feels almost unreal.
The audience ratings for the show dropped following its move to a later time slot on Sunday evenings. It’s now been announced that The Equalizer has been taken off air, which follows the cancellation of other CBS series like FBI: International, FBI: Most Wanted, and Poppa’s House.
Latifah applauded the “outstanding team behind the show” which includes the cast, crew, producers, and writers, and expressed gratitude towards the fans for their loyalty throughout its five-season run. She acknowledged that they have been unwavering, vocal, and steadfast in their support – qualities that drive them to continue producing the show. She emphasized that they can’t thank their supporters enough as this support means everything to them.
Towards the conclusion of her latest post, Latifah hinted at an upcoming project, assuring her enthusiastic followers that they’ll see me returning with a bang in something fresh very soon. I can hardly contain my excitement to reveal this new venture to you all!
Latifah worked together with Compere, Joseph C. Wilson, Debra Martin Chase, John Davis, John Fox, Loretha Jones, and Rob Hanning as executive producers on the TV series The Equalizer. This show is a joint production between Universal Television and CBS Studios.
CBS’ 2025-26 schedule will be announced on May 7.
