R. Kelly’s Daughter Claims Singer Abused Her as a Child in Documentary

As a gamer who has grown up with R. Kelly’s music as part of my soundtrack, this revelation about Buku Abi’s experiences is heart-wrenching and deeply troubling. I feel a profound sense of betrayal, not just towards R. Kelly, but also towards the industry that allowed such behavior to persist for so long.

In a recent documentary on TVEI Streaming Network, Buku Abi (Joann Kelly), R. Kelly’s daughter, has claimed that he allegedly abused her sexually when she was just a child.

He meant the world to me, and for a prolonged period, I refused to accept that such an event could occur. I had no idea that someone as questionable as he was could harm me,” Buku Abi expresses tearfully in the documentary titled “R. Kelly’s Karma: A Daughter‘s Journey. “I was too terrified to confide in anyone, even my mother.

The hidden truth about her life is unfolded in a two-part documentary, featuring heartfelt conversations with Abi’s siblings Jaah and Robert Kelly Jr., as well as their mother, Drea Kelly. “What he did to me, he did to me,” her ex-husband admits, “but you didn’t have to harm my children.” His ex-wife expresses this sentiment.

Abi expresses that a single millisecond turned out to be life-altering, transforming her identity, her spirit, and the radiance she once carried. After sharing this experience with her mother, they no longer visited that place. According to her interview in People, she and her siblings, Robert and Jaah, followed suit. To this day, Abi continues to grapple with the impact of this event.

When The Hollywood Reporter attempted to get a comment from Kelly’s attorney, Jennifer Bonjean of the Bonjean Law Group located in New York City, she was unavailable for response at that time.

As a gamer, I’d like to set the record straight: those accusations against me are false. Way back when, my ex-wife leveled the same claim, and it was thoroughly investigated by the Illinois Department of Children & Family Services. Guess what? It was baseless. And here’s the kicker: whoever these ‘filmmakers’ are never bothered to reach out to me or my team, so I couldn’t refute these damaging allegations.

In the year 2021, Kelly, famous as an R&B sensation behind the hit “I Believe I Can Fly,” faced conviction following a sex trafficking trial. This verdict came after decades of evading criminal accountability for various accusations of misconduct towards young women and minors.

It wasn’t until after a popular documentary series, Surviving R. Kelly, amplified his case that it gained attention during the #MeToo movement, and provided a platform for accusers who had long felt unheard due to being black women.

You can now watch the initial installments of “R. Kelly’s Karma: A Daughter’s Journey” on the TVEI Streaming Network.
