According to recent reports, Zegler will team up with Spider-Man’s Marisa Tomei in the upcoming comedy-drama titled She Gets It From Me. In this heartwarming tale, we’ll see both actresses bring to life a charming mother-daughter duo. I can’t wait to see these talented ladies shine on the big screen!
Forthcoming movie, “She Gets It From Me,” is helmed by director Julia von Heinz who previously directed the films “Treasure” (2024) and Germany’s 2021 Oscar entry, “And Tomorrow the Entire World“. The script was penned by Jay Reiss, known for his Tony Award-winning work on “The Twenty Fifth Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” (2011) and the film “The Oranges“. Embankment will initiate global pre-sales at Cannes. Production companies 3311 Productions, Anna Werner from Seven Elephants, and Reiss are collaborating on this project.
The upcoming comedy-drama movie titled “She Gets It From Me” is loosely inspired by real events. The story revolves around Nicky (Zegler), whose party for celebrating her engagement unexpectedly turns into a quest to find her birth mother, Charlotte (Tomei). In a series of unconventional and emotional moments, the two embark on a journey to rebuild their relationship.

In a statement, the director of the film “She Gets It From Me” remarked, “The movie’s emotional truth resonates with us all, making it both hilarious and deeply engaging. The script by Jay masterfully portrays family dynamics in a way that feels incredibly genuine: it’s absurd yet insightful, chaotic yet significant. The blend of these two worlds results in comedy that’s poignant because it’s so truthful.
