Esha Deol, born to actors Dharmendra and Hema Malini, had a career as an actor before tying the knot with businessman Bharat Takhtani in a private wedding ceremony in June 2012. Five years later, she revealed her pregnancy in April 2017, and on October 20 of the same year, they welcomed their first child, a daughter named Radhya. Today, we’re reminiscing about an old interview with Deol from Dhoom days, where she expressed that her firstborn possesses the ‘Deol family resemblance’ and makes her feel like she’s gazing at herself in a mirror.
In 2018, approximately seven months after Radhya Takhtani was born, Esha Deol shared with Mumbai Mirror that their daughter bore a striking resemblance to her. Speaking enthusiastically about her newborn, the actress stated that the child is much like herself, expressing displeasure only when compelled to do something she doesn’t want to, similar to her character. “She’s very much my daughter, and there are moments when I see her with one raised eyebrow, and it feels as if I’m gazing into a mirror,” Esha expressed in the old interview.
Actress from the film “No Entry” revealed that she kept her pregnancy hidden from her family for almost three months. However, when she finally told her mother Hema Malini about it, Hema admitted to already knowing because she too is a mother. Esha shared with the media how her father, veteran actor Dharmendra, reacted upon Radhya’s birth, saying that he was like an emotional teddy bear who hurried into the hospital room to meet his granddaughter. Although Radhya was born on October 20th, the family believed for a long time that she would be born in early November.
However, upon Radhya’s early arrival a day post Diwali, Bharat Takhtani, Esha’s husband, showed great joy because he wasn’t keen on another Scorpio in his life. When asked about the origin of their daughter’s name, Esha swiftly claimed credit. The actress from Na Tum Jaano Na Hum disclosed that she had proposed the name Radhana before the baby was born, which later transformed into Radhya. Apart from Radhya, the celebrity duo is also blessed with another daughter, Miraya, who joined their family in June 2019.
