The cast alone is a testament to the series’ potential, with familiar faces from some of my favorite shows like The English, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, The Crown, and Yellowstone gracing our screens.
Actor Rafe Spall (“The English,” “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”) and actress Kelly Reilly (“Yellowstone,” “Here”) are taking on the leading roles for Sky Original’s upcoming crime thriller, titled “Under Salt Marsh“. Production is currently underway.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that actors like Jonathan Pryce (known for The Crown and Slow Horses), Naomi Yang (famous for Nightsleeper and Wolfe), and Harry Lawtey (recognized from Industry and Joker: Folie à Deux) will join the cast of this six-part limited event series. Previously, it was announced that Reilly would be part of this project, which is brilliantly crafted by Claire Oakley.
Located in the fictional Welsh town of Morfa Halen, a close-knit community situated between looming mountains and an ocean that constantly endangers it, a devastating storm starts forming. A former detective now turned teacher named Jackie (Reilly) finds the body of her eight-year-old pupil, Cefin, who appears to have drowned. This tragic incident shocks the town, bringing back memories of an unresolved mystery from three years ago – the disappearance of Jackie’s niece, Nessa, which led to her losing her career.
The demise of Cefin brings back Detective Eric Bull (Spall), Jackie’s ex-partner, to Morfa Halen to take charge of a case that he had previously struggled with within the community. Suspecting a connection between the cases, Jackie and Eric find themselves compelled to mend their relationship in order to unearth secrets hidden deep within Morfa, before a storm wipes away all potential evidence forever.
The talented actors Dinita Gohil (“Sandman”, “Greed”), Brian Gleeson (“Bad Sisters”, “Phantom Thread”), Kimberley Nixon (“Fresh Meat”, “Life and Death in the Warehouse”), Mark Stanley (“Happy Valley”, “The Reckoning”), Dino Fetscher (“Fool Me Once”, “Foundation”), Lizzie Annis (“The Witcher: Blood Origin”, “Extraordinary”), Rhodri Meilir (“Pren Ar y Bryn/Tree On A Hill”, “Craith/Hidden”) and Julian Lewis Jones (“House of the Dragon”, “Wheel of Time”) make up an impressive ensemble cast.
The production titled “Under Salt Marsh” is a collaboration between Little Door Productions and Sky Studios, and it’s all being shot right here in beautiful Wales, U.K.
