On Instagram, Saira Banu posted a video in celebration of Raj Kapoor’s 100th birthday. The clip featured snippets of Indian cinema’s greatest showman, along with memories he shared with Dilip Kumar. She started by saying, “Raj Kapoor, the visionary, the dreamer, the perpetual storyteller, was once a boy exploring the bustling yet tranquil streets of Peshawar. It wasn’t by chance that two legendary figures, Sahib and Raj Ji, both originated from Peshawar.
This experienced actress disclosed that Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar were longtime friends who grew up in Peshawar. She explained, “Beyond merely sharing a city, their friendship ran deeper, spanning decades, stardom, and even the boundaries of life itself.
Saira Banu discussed the blossoming friendship between the two actors over time. She mentioned that they delighted in one another’s presence and shared a common passion for cricket. Moreover, she disclosed that their empathy bonded them as they collaborated on causes beyond themselves, generating funds, and inspiring hope during challenging periods.

She recalled that Dilip Kumar was abroad when Raj Kapoor suffered a cardiac arrest and immediately rushed back. She shared that her husband told his friend in tears, “‘Raj, wake up! I’ve brought the ‘khushboo’ of Chapli Kebabs. Let’s walk through the bazaar, like we used to eating kebabs, laughing, and reminiscing. Bas ab acting mat kar; take me back to Peshawar.’”
