As a dedicated follower of all things anime, I’m eagerly awaiting the theatrical debut of “Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama” in India, which has been long-awaited for over three decades. Originally slated to premiere on October 18, 2024, there has been a change in plans. Recently, Farhan Akhtar announced that the film will now be released on January 24, 2025. I’m keeping my fingers crossed and counting down the days!
Farhan Akhtar shared on his Instagram stories the poster for the new anime movie, along with the revised release date. Have a look at it right here!
This movie initially premiered at the International Film Festival of India, later making its way onto television broadcasts. Notably, esteemed screenwriter Shri V. Vijayendra Prasad, renowned for his work on hit films like Baahubali, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, and RRR, lent his creative touch to this adaptation.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but express my enthusiasm for “Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama,” a breathtaking collaboration between India and Japan that first graced our screens in 1992. This masterpiece is deeply rooted in the ancient Indian epic, Ramayana, and serves as a testament to the timeless tale of Prince Rama. Directed by the visionary duo Koichi Sasaki and Ram Mohan, this cinematic journey is further enriched by the evocative musical score of Vanraj Bhatia, which brings the story to life in the most captivating way possible.
This remarkable animated production, a joint effort by Yugo Sako from Japan and Ram Mohan from India, creatively retells the ancient tale of the Ramayana. The film beautifully amalgamates animation techniques originating from both countries.
The tale revolves around Prince Rama, an incarnation of the deity Vishnu, who embarks on a valiant quest to save his wife, Sita, from the grip of the demon ruler Ravana. Even though it was made decades ago using hand-drawn animation techniques, this movie continues to be a stunning visual and storytelling wonder, preserving the core spirit of Indian mythology.
The film, produced by Excel Entertainment under the guidance of Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, will be available in several languages such as Hindi, English, Tamil, and Telugu, thereby expanding its reach to a broader audience. This cinematic marvel is expected to enchant viewers with its timeless allure and grand narrative.
