Ranbir Kapoor is the 'best actor' among his 'current contemporaries', says his Raajneeti co-actor Darshan Jariwala; recalls Shahid Kapoor seeking advice from star

As a lifestyle expert with a rich background in cinema, I have had the privilege of observing and analyzing the careers of countless actors over the years. Among the current crop of stars, Ranbir Kapoor stands out as a truly exceptional talent. His ability to choose diverse roles, coupled with his willingness to experiment, sets him apart from many of his contemporaries.

Born into the illustrious Kapoor family, Ranbir Kapoor kickstarted his acting journey with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya in 2007. He is recognized as one of the most gifted actors of his time and has shared the screen with esteemed veterans such as Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Anil Kapoor, and others. Notably, Darshan Jariwala, a respected actor himself, considers Ranbir to be the ‘most outstanding performer’ among his contemporaries today. Interestingly, even Shahid Kapoor sought advice from the talented young actor during their time together in Raajneeti.

In a recent chat with Digital Commentary, Darshan Jariwala shared his thoughts on actor Ranbir Kapoor following his latest role in the movie “Animal” released in 2023.

In his current peers, he stands out as the best. Considering the types of films and roles he has chosen, it appears he follows a traditional path. However, unlike others, he doesn’t stick to this pattern. Instead, he takes on more experimental roles, as Darshan explained.

Through referencing his latest productions, Brahmastra and Animal, the actor from Raajneeti openly expressed his willingness to embrace diverse character portrayals throughout his acting journey.

In reference to the 2010 movie “Raajneeti”, Darshan Jariwala noted that Ranbir Kapoor had gained significant knowledge under the guidance of his directors, notably renowned director Prakash Jha.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I recently shared some intriguing insights on a fascinating topic that sparked curiosity among many – Shahid Kapoor’s decision to take on the role in Phata Poster Nikhla Hero. You see, when faced with such an important career crossroads, our beloved actor sought advice from none other than his cousin and industry veteran, Ranbir Kapoor. It was a fascinating peek into the inner workings of Bollywood, where family bonds and shared experiences guide some of their most significant professional decisions.

The celebrated actor quoted Shahid and shared that he called Ranbir and asked his advice about Rajkumar Santoshi’s directorial. He added that his Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani co-star advised him to do what the director does and not what he says.

Under the direction of Prakash Jha, Raajneeti showcased Katrina Kaif acting alongside Ranbir Kapoor. This 2010 political thriller boasted a talented cast that included Manoj Bajpayee, Nana Patekar, Arjun Rampal, and Naseeruddin Shah.

Beyond my involvement in Raajneeti, I had the pleasure of teaming up with the dynamic Ranbir Kapoor in the 2009 film, Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani, directed by the talented Santoshi. It was an exciting journey working on this project!

Recently, I discovered that Ranbir Kapoor will be spearheading Yash Raj Films’ next project, Dhoom 4 – the fourth chapter in the popular Dhoom franchise. According to a trusted source, producer Aditya Chopra deemed Ranbir as the perfect fit to continue the legacy of the Dhoom series.

“The discussions with Ranbir have been going on for the longest time. He had always shown interest to be a part of Dhoom 4 on hearing the basic idea, and is now finally confirmed to lead the franchise,” the source told us.

According to reports, Ranbir Kapoor will portray the villain in the fourth installment of Dhoom. The filmmakers are said to be considering introducing two prominent actors from the newer generation as on-screen police partners for an exciting new take on the action genre.

Regarding his professional endeavors, following their collaboration on the film “Animal” with Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Ranbir Kapoor is now teaming up once more with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for his upcoming project titled “Love & War”. Notably, this production also features Ranbir’s spouse, actress Alia Bhatt, as well as his “Sanju” co-star Vicky Kaushal.

In addition to appearing in director Nitesh Tiwari’s highly anticipated film titled “Ramayana,” Ranbir will share the screen with popular South actress Sai Pallavi. In this production, Ranbir takes on the role of Lord Rama, while Sai portrays Goddess Sita. The cast also includes prominent South actor Yash.

Among his most recognized performances are those in films such as Rockstar, Wake Up Sid, Sanju, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Shamshera, Bombay Velvet, Tamasha, and the upcoming movie Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar.
