Ranbir Kapoor recalls Alia Bhatt asking who Kishore Kumar was when they first met; announces film festival dedicated to grandfather Raj Kapoor

As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for Bollywood dynamics and personal growth, I find myself deeply inspired by Ranbir Kapoor’s recent revelation about his wife Alia Bhatt not knowing who Kishore Kumar was when they first met. This anecdote serves as a stark reminder of the generational gap in knowledge and appreciation for our rich Indian film heritage.

For three years now, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt have been happily married, and they’re thrilled parents of their beautiful daughter, Raha. In his personal life, the actor from Ramayana is flourishing. Lately, he shared an interesting tidbit about his wife – when they first met, she didn’t know who Kishore Kumar was as he announced a film festival honoring his grandfather, Raj Kapoor.

On November 24th, Ranbir Kapoor graced the 50th International Film Festival (IFFI) in Goa. In the course of discussions, he unveiled plans for a unique film festival commemorating his grandfather and esteemed filmmaker, Raj Kapoor. He underscored the significance of familiarizing oneself with such legendary figures in the movie industry.

He went on to say that this unique endeavor would enable others to gain insight into his grandfather’s accomplishments and get a sense of his background. To illustrate, he mentioned an example from his own life: his wife, Alia Bhatt, was unaware who the legendary musician Kishore Kumar was when they first crossed paths. “It’s all part of the cycle of life,” he continued. “Individuals are often forgotten, only for a new artist to emerge.

Actor known for his roles in Love & War, recently discussed a film festival honoring his grandfather. He disclosed that the event will transpire from December 13 to December 15, 2024. He expressed that ten timeless films by Raj Kapoor, his legendary granddad, would be screened across the nation, since many people may not have encountered these classic cinematic gems.

The 42-year-old actor strongly advocated for the importance of remembering one’s origins. He emphasized that not only Raj Kapoor, but numerous filmmakers and artists deserve ongoing recognition.

Kapoor acknowledged that the unique film festival was coordinated collaboratively with NFDC, NFAI, Film Heritage Foundation of India, and his nephew, Kunal Kapoor – a group who have jointly contributed to the restoration of Raj Kapoor’s films.

In terms of professional endeavors, Ranbir Kapoor has an enticing array of upcoming projects. These include collaborations such as Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana with Sai Pallavi, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War where he will work alongside his wife, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal. Additionally, he is set to be part of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal Park and Dhoom 4.

Here are two separate releases planned for the coming years: Firstly, the initial and second sections of Ramayana are set to debut on Diwali in 2026 and 2027 respectively. Secondly, Love & War will make its appearance on March 20, 2026.
