Ranbir Kapoor wasn’t satisfied even after giving 37 takes for a scene in Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, reveals helmer Luv Ranjan: ‘Don’t just say okay because…’

As a dedicated follower of Bollywood, I have to say that watching the making-of Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar has been a revelation. It’s fascinating to see how Luv Ranjan and his team navigated through the challenges, particularly when it came to working with the meticulous Ranbir Kapoor.

The first film pairing Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor was Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, a Luv Ranjan entertainer that created quite a stir at the box office in 2023, earning a place among the top-grossing Hindi films of the year. However, the smooth sailing didn’t come easily for Kapoor and the director. In a recent conversation, Ranjan shared that Kapoor performed as many as 37 takes for one specific scene.

As an ardent admirer putting this into my own words, let me share my excitement: I, being a die-hard fan, was overjoyed when Luv Ranjan shared that he had once collaborated with Ajay Devgn and Ranbir Kapoor on a project that unfortunately didn’t materialize. “We were set to create magic together,” he said, “but the partnership didn’t gel as we had hoped.” However, our conversations about that movie paved the way for us to unite once more in Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. After numerous brainstorming sessions, we both agreed that this romantic-comedy idea was too good to pass up and decided to bring it to life together.

When speaking about his time working with the Animal star, the Pyaar Ka Punchnama director revealed that many intriguing events transpired during film production. He recounted a story by saying, “On the third day of shooting, we filmed Ranbir Kapoor thirty-seven times.

Nevertheless, he emphasized that Kapoor was the type of individual who remained unsatisfied despite numerous retakes. Consequently, he approached Luv and conveyed, “If you’re not completely content, feel free to tell me. I’ll do one more take. Don’t simply agree because I’ve already done 37 takes.

During the course of their discussion, the director disclosed that he chose Shraddha Kapoor to play the role of Tinni because he was seeking an actress who embodied a straightforward, down-to-earth persona.

Luv pointed out that she handled it effortlessly, further noting her natural performance in the role. Alongside them, the movie featured Dimple Kapadia, Hasleen Kaur, and several others. Notably, Boney Kapoor and Anubhav Singh Bassi made their acting debuts in this film. Additionally, Kartik Aaryan and Nushrratt Bharuccha made brief appearances in the project.
