When Ranbir Kapoor flew to Barcelona for just a day to watch match

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Bimal Parekh shared that he knew about Ranbir Kapoor’s deep love for football. He added that Ranbir was so enthusiastic that he would go to Barcelona just for a single day to catch a football game.

As I discovered the news about the auction of a football club, I recognized it as a captivating prospect. Moreover, I couldn’t help but highlight my extensive and fruitful professional connection with Juhi Chawla, given that cricket was yielding substantial earnings during that period.

Later on, Bimal Parekh clarified that Ranbir showed great interest in the concept, leading them to consult with Rishi Kapoor, who held the ultimate authority. Rishi Kapoor found the idea appealing but sought clarity on who would lead the team. Bimal suggested hiring a skilled professional for the role, but Rishi believed it was crucial for a family member to supervise the team instead.

Initially, he stated that when the situation required, he was willing to assume the task, and this made Rishi Kapoor happy. However, Rishi inquired about his payment, to which Bimal proposed accepting an ownership share in the team instead. Additionally, he noted that it took some time before the sport began to pick up speed.

Upon acquiring the club, Ranbir Kapoor told PTI that it was an honor for him to be part of the Indian Super League and to symbolize vibrant Mumbai. He confided that football has been a consistent companion in his life since he was young, and as a league partner now, he’s excited to direct his enthusiasm towards fostering the sport’s growth.
