Pankaj Tripathi has weighed in on the current dispute involving comedian Samay Raina and YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia. In a recent discussion, the seasoned actor emphasized that in today’s digital era, success is often gauged differently. He stressed the importance of being mindful about one’s words when they hold sway over others, and avoiding taking pride in speaking thoughtlessly.
During an interview with Indian Express’ Screen, Pankaj Tripathi raised doubts about the wisdom of people who gain sudden popularity on the internet. As a seasoned actor, he questioned whether these individuals possess the necessary intelligence, considering their knowledge of literature and appropriate social behavior. Moreover, he underscored the importance of being well-versed in India’s cultural values.
He pointed out that society encompasses a variety of aspects, and understanding the cultural values of our living environment is crucial. Merely because there’s no explicit censorship doesn’t imply we can express anything under the guise of entertainment. He added that it’s fine to joke around with nonsensical things, but taking pride in such nonsense is not acceptable.
In simpler terms, the Mirzapur actor expressed that becoming viral isn’t something to heavily focus on, as being viral is similar to a temporary virus infection – it lasts for a while, but eventually passes, and we move forward. The reasons behind success and the path to achieving it have significant impacts.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to emphasize that I’m more focused on the impact of my words rather than who might be right or wrong in a given situation. The power lies in our ability to sway others through our speech, and it’s crucial we wield this power thoughtfully and responsibly. After all, when people listen to us, we carry a responsibility to guide them with care and consideration.
After the uproar, Ranveer Allahbadia posted a video explaining and apologizing for his comments. At the same time, Samay Raina spoke out about the situation by vowing to collaborate with the ongoing probe. In reality, all episodes of India’s Got Talent were removed from YouTube due to the extensive public backlash.
Professionally, Tripathi will soon appear in the movie “Metro In Dino” directed by Anurag Basu. This film also features Sara Ali Khan, Aditya Roy Kapur, along with Tripathi. Notable actors such as Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, and Konkona Sen Sharma will be in leading roles for this anthology film.
