In the past, Simi disclosed that she briefly dated Ratan Tata while she was prominent in Bollywood. Despite their separation, they have maintained a strong friendship.
During an interview with the Times of India in 2011, Simi stated that she and Ratan had a deep history, characterizing him as flawless, having a strong sense of humor, maintaining humility, and exemplifying the traits of a genuine gentleman.

On Wednesday evening, October 9th, Ratan Tata sadly passed away. Prior to this, he had been admitted at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai due to a sudden decrease in blood pressure. He was severely ill and receiving care in the ICU. The unfortunate news of his passing was announced late that night.
On Thursday, October 10, 2024, between 10 am and 4 pm, his physical remains are being exhibited at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) in southern Mumbai, allowing the public to express their condolences. His funeral ceremony will take place later in the day in Worli, Mumbai.
