As a fan who grew up with the magical world of Waverly Place, I can hardly contain my excitement! The Disney Channel reunion of Raven-Symoné and Danielle Fishel as directors for “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place” is an absolute dream come true. These two actresses have been a part of my childhood memories through their shows “That’s So Raven” and “Girl Meets World”.
It’s a Disney Channel reunion!
Raven-Symoné and Danielle Fishel are coming back to Disney Channel for the revival of Wizards of Waverly Place, titled Wizards Beyond Waverly Place. In this new role, they will be directing some episodes during the first season. Both actresses have previously worked with Disney, with Raven-Symoné known for her show That’s So Raven and Danielle Fishel for Girl Meets World.
Disney announced that the follow-up series will begin with the first two episodes airing on Disney Channel on October 29th. The remaining six episodes will then become available on Disney+ starting October 30th.
The television series titled “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place” centers around the character Justin Russo, portrayed by David Henrie. Justin, having opted for a mundane, human existence, lives with his wife Giada (Mimi Gianopulos) and their children Roman (Alkaio Thiele) and Milo (Max Matenko).
Yet, as per the storyline, when Alex (Selena Gomez’s character) arrives at Justin’s home with Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown), needing assistance, Justin discovers that he needs to reactivate his magical abilities in order to guide this apprentice wizard, all while managing his daily tasks and ensuring the protection of Wizard World’s future.
Although Gomez won’t be a regular character in the Wizards of Waverly Place revival, she will make an appearance in the premiere episode. In addition, she and Henrie are serving as executive producers on the show, along with Jed Elinoff, Scott Thomas, Gary Marsh, and Jonas Agin.
Previously, the actor from “How I Met Your Mother” hinted at the joy of reconnecting with his on-screen sister. He described it as “awesome,” stating they didn’t want it to end and found it great. This was during the filming with the star of “Only Murders in the Building,” over a decade after the initial series concluded. He admired her, saying she has an even sharper wit now than before.
I must admit, certain moments in the initial episode had me gripping my seat, reminding me poignantly of the original series – moments that could easily bring tears to any dedicated fan’s eyes.
