As a dedicated horror movie enthusiast with over two decades of watching spine-tingling tales under my belt, I must say that the news about Ready or Not 2 has me absolutely thrilled! The original film was a rollercoaster ride of suspense and terror, expertly directed by Radio Silence – Bettinelli-Olpin, Gillett, and Villella, who have certainly made their mark in the horror genre with their previous works.
Regardless of whether you’re all geared up or caught off guard, the sequel to “Ready or Not” is poised to become another addition to the expanding catalog of forthcoming horror films!
Absolutely, there’s exciting news about a sequel to the 2019 horror-comedy hit, “Ready or Not”. This movie has been quite popular in recent times. With the production of a new sequel being confirmed, natural questions arise: Will Samara Weaving reprise her role as the lead? Are Radio Silence returning to direct? What twisted antics can we expect this time around, drenched in blood and humor?
Right now, there are several points about Ready or Not 2 that remain concealed, but I can share what we do have with those eager to know. Let me serve as your guide, revealing all the known details about Ready or Not 2.
When Is The Ready Or Not 2 Release Date?
As of now, there hasn’t been any officially announced release date for Ready or Not 2. Given that it was only recently announced in October 2024, it seems unlikely to be on the 2024 film schedule. However, if filming and editing have already been completed, it could potentially hit theaters in 2025.
What Is Ready Or Not 2 About?
In addition, there’s no news about the storyline for Ready or Not 2, but I suspect it will revolve around Grace, the protagonist from the first movie, finding herself entangled in another nerve-wracking game of hide-and-seek-like nature. Recall that we last saw the blood-spattered bride at the end of Ready or Not – SPOILER ALERT – having miraculously survived a lethal round of Hide and Seek against her wealthy, Satanic in-laws. Unfortunately for them, their inability to sacrifice her to Mr. LeBail on time resulted in each of them being reduced to a splatter of reddish goo.
Initially, the tightly wrapped ending of “Ready or Not” left me uncertain about a possible sequel, especially since it was still merely a rumor. However, contrary to my initial thoughts, TopMob’s Sarah El-Mahmoud advocated for “Ready or Not 2” mere days after the original release. Now, considering the news of the sequel, I can see how this follow-up to what appeared to be a standalone horror film could potentially offer an enjoyable experience and make sense in various aspects.
Maybe the narrative could emphasize a stronger supernatural element, as Grace finds herself inheriting the Le Domas estate and confronting the vengeful spirits of her in-laws in a chilling haunted house film. Alternatively, RoN2 could transport her into an entirely fresh setting where another peculiar, violent incident unfolds, possibly even placing her at the helm of the investigation or hunt.
Samara Weaving Returns To Lead The Ready Or Not 2 Cast
Regardless of how the story for “Ready or Not 2” unfolds, I’m thrilled that Samara Weaving will be back at the helm. This decision might not have occurred if the original ending of “Ready or Not,” where her character was meant to be sacrificed, hadn’t been altered in favor of a more optimistic conclusion. Her stunning portrayal in the first film elevated Grace to one of the top modern final girls, and Weaving has since become a beloved figure within the horror genre.
Indeed, this actress and model from Australia, who is also the niece of Hugo Weaving, has already dipped her toes into the genre. She had a recurring role in “Ash vs. Evil Dead” and led films such as “Mayhem” and Netflix’s horror movie, “The Babysitter.” Maintaining her Scream Queen status, she was seen in 2023’s “Scream VI,” which includes a nod to “Ready or Not,” and 2024’s post-apocalyptic survival thriller, “Azrael.” She also ventured into more dramatic roles with films like “Babylon” and “Chevalier.
Radio Silence Is Involved With Ready Or Not 2
In a TikTok video posted by mamasgeeky, it’s been verified that Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of Radio Silence are set to direct the sequel to “Ready or Not”. Having previously made their mark by helming segments in popular anthology horror films like “V/H/S” and “Southbound”, their success with the original “Ready or Not” catapulted them into mainstream prominence. This newfound fame led them to direct two “Scream” movies and the highly-praised vampire movie “Abigail”.
In the filmmaking group, Chad Villella serves as the third member, and for the upcoming movie “Ready or Not 2”, he’s taking on the role of an executive producer, much like his other collaborative projects with Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett, except when he also directs their “V/H/S” and “Southbound” segments. As reported by Deadline, Chad Villella shares this executive producer credit with Tara Farney, while Tripp Vinson, Bradley J. Fischer, William Sherak, and James Vanderbilt are also credited as producers on the project.
Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy Are Writing Ready Or Not 2
Writers Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy are preparing to pen the sequel to “Ready or Not”, having previously written the first installment as well. Interestingly, this original thriller was one of four collaborations between Busick and Radio Silence. In addition to their two “Scream” movies co-written with James Vanderbilt, Busick also co-wrote “Abigail” with Stephen Shields for them.
Previously, Busick teamed up with Murphy on TV shows such as “Stan Against Evil” and one of Hulu’s top-tier horror series, “Castle Rock,” in the writing department. Murphy, who initially worked as a production assistant for horror films like 2003’s “Wrong Turn” and “Skinwalkers” from 2006, later became an associate producer of the 2007 film “The Deaths of Ian Stone.” He also penned segments for a 2016 anthology called “Minutes Before Midnight.” Interestingly, Busick and Murphy can be spotted in the movie “Ready or Not” as the men who appear in a video tutorial on crossbow usage that Fitch (Kristian Bruun) briefly checks out.
