In their return to the silver screen, Rebel Wilson and Anna Camp are teaming up once more, but this time it’s not for another “Pitch Perfect” installment. Instead, they’re starring in an action-comedy titled “Bride Hard“.
In this exhilarating blend of “Bridesmaids” and “Die Hard,” I find myself in the role of a secret agent, doubling as the maid of honor at my dearest friend’s wedding, played by the talented Camp. However, the joyous occasion is abruptly disrupted when ruthless mercenaries storm the venue, forcing me to switch gears from wedding planning to high-stakes action hero!
Following their appearances in three “Pitch Perfect” productions, Wilson shared with The Hollywood Reporter during the Los Angeles premiere on Wednesday that these old pals had been seeking opportunities to collaborate once more.
After acting alongside each other in three “Pitch Perfect” films, Wilson expressed at the Los Angeles premiere on Wednesday that they, long-time friends, have been keen to work together again.
Wilson shared, “I adore Anna, I believe she’s among the top actresses globally – she’s incredibly versatile. If you’ve watched her in ‘You’ or ‘Hysteria!’, you know just how multi-talented she is. When this film needed a strong female ensemble, I thought, ‘Let’s get Anna Camp on board.’ She can excel in any role; she chose to play the bride, so we’re reunited as best friends once more.
In simpler terms, Director Simon West stated that when choosing Camp for the role, it was a straightforward decision as they were friends. With numerous complexities in the movie’s production, he explained that fostering their relationship on-screen would be easier due to their existing bond. Furthermore, having Anna Camp, who is already her friend and has previously collaborated with her, would ensure a seamless performance as they are familiar with each other’s rhythm. Consequently, it makes the entire process more straightforward.
Following her success in comedy, Wilson is venturing into the world of action for the first time. She’s mentioned Tom Cruise and Daniel Craig as her inspirations in this genre. She further stated, “I’m not aiming to join the ranks of serious action stars like those in the John Wick series, but I believe there could be some exciting roles emerging in the realm of action-comedy that would be a blast to play.”

Having established herself as a comedy star, Wilson is now trying her hand at action for the first time. She cited Tom Cruise and Daniel Craig as her role models in this genre. She also said, “I’m not planning to take on the roles of the serious action stars seen in the John Wick films, but I think there might be some intriguing roles coming up in the action-comedy field that would be a lot of fun.
The film titled “Bride Hard,” featuring Anna Chlumsky, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Justin Hartley, and Sherry Cola, will be released in theaters this coming Friday.
