Reese Witherspoon is debunking speculation that she and Kate Winslet had a falling out.
Following a recent interview with People magazine, the actress who starred in “You’re Cordially Invited” admitted to being troubled by a speech she delivered for another well-known actress at an awards ceremony. Since then, it appears that this actress has stopped communicating with Witherspoon.
Despite not explicitly mentioning the actress, there was swift conjecture online that suggested Winslet might be the person Witherspoon was talking about. This guesswork was based on Winslet’s tribute to the actress at the BAFTA/LA Cunard Britannia Awards in November 2007.
On Saturday, Witherspoon clarified on her Instagram Stories that she has no issues with Winslet, contradicting recent rumors. Unfortunately, the post is no longer visible on her account.
Greetings all! I recently chatted with a long-time friend of mine, Kate W., and we shared a hearty laugh over something silly. It’s essential to remember that rumors on the internet aren’t always accurate. Kate and I have never had any disagreement or falling out,” Witherspoon said, as reported by People.
She also noted, “This is completely UNTRUE …so silly!”
At the occasion she spoke about earlier, Witherspoon shared that a friend of hers, whom she wasn’t overly familiar with but was quite serious and formal in her acting, had asked her to present an award. However, being unfamiliar with this ceremony, Witherspoon thought it was more like a roast, so she joked about her friend instead.
Considering the refined atmosphere of the occasion, Witherspoon appears to be still feeling a bit awkward about her decision to deliver humorous remarks such as referencing past experiences like “the time we opted for laser hair removal.
As a result, Witherspoon said that she and the actress are “not friends anymore.
She seems not to be fond of me anymore, I believe. What I found amusing seemed to fall flat with her; it was clearly a misjudgment on my part and it didn’t go well at all. Honestly, she doesn’t engage in conversation with me any longer. Oh well.” (Witherspoon stated.)
After it was revealed that Winslet wasn’t the actor in question, people online discovered that Winslet and Witherspoon had appeared together on stage at the 2016 Oscars. To this day, Witherspoon hasn’t disclosed which actor she was referring to.
