As a seasoned gamer of streetwear fashion with a penchant for baseball history and a soft spot for vintage aesthetics, this Reigning Champ “Japan Indigo Series” collaboration has me absolutely smitten! The fusion of sportswear and denim, coupled with the rich heritage of stickball in the South Bronx, is an unparalleled blend that resonates deeply with my love for both gaming culture and baseball lore.
Instead of backing down, Reigning Champ consistently produces high-quality sportswear blended with streetwear, both as standalone collections and through collaborations. For its most recent release, known as the “Japan Indigo Series,” this Vancouver brand steps onto the field to reinvent a selection of vintage baseball jerseys using Japanese denim.
Working with New York City’s oldest and active stickball team, the Bronx Royals, Reigning Champ has redesigned a collection of six items, collaborating with a well-respected denim manufacturer from Fukuyama, Hiroshima – Japan’s denim hub. This on-location lookbook showcases the new range.
“Reigning Champ shared on Instagram that their campaign and movie offer a peek into the vibrant culture at the crossroads of Seward Avenue and Stickball Boulevard, located in a New York borough. This area is where the traditional sport’s history thrives, continuing to flourish on the streets of the South Bronx.”

Every item in this collection was meticulously created, right here in Japan – from initial cutting and sewing to the final dyeing process. These jerseys are immersed in premium cotton denim, seamlessly blending the Reigning Champ label with the 121-year-old New York Highlanders emblem, which eventually evolved into today’s iconic New York Yankees logo.
