The creators of the science fiction series, Resident Alien, are still grappling with the fact that the show has been terminated, following the announcement during the fourth season.
Before the season four finale of “Resident Alien” airs on Aug. 8, both USA Network and Syfy, I’ve been eagerly anticipating every episode. However, as a devoted fan, I was saddened to hear through The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday that the series has been sadly canceled. The project revolves around Harry, an alien played by Alan Tudyk, who disguises himself as a small-town doctor while growing attached to humans, with Sara Tomko, Corey Reynolds, and Alice Wetterlund among the talented cast members.
Reynolds shares with THR that the feeling is both sweet and bitter. They’re thankful for the chance they’ve had, but knowing what lies ahead in the final three episodes makes it an ideal moment for new viewers to jump on board and enjoy the entire series from start to finish, like a satisfying meal.
As a devoted fan, I’d put it like this: “I can’t help but hold on tightly to what I love, and this project is no exception. Each one of us pours our heart into it, for the team we work with, for those we serve. Letting go is never easy; it’s been tough, it was hard then, and truth be told, I’m still not fully prepared.
Chris Sheridan openly shared with THR that he had a sense, even before starting work on season four, that this might be the last run for the series.
During our planning for the season, we kept in mind that we were aiming to conclude the series,” he explains. “So as we started this season, I informed the cast, ‘I believe this might be our final season, so let’s savor it.’
Sheridan shares that during the creation of season four, there were uniquely challenging, melancholic days due to the presumption that the show was coming to an end. “It was tough to accept that possibility,” he continues, “but also, it was preferable to being at home after the season and receiving a call saying everything we cherished had disappeared. We had the opportunity to mourn together for a year and navigate through it.
