Back in 2023, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, often referred to as Bollywood’s favorite couple, were guests on Karan Johar’s talk show “Koffee With Karan.” During their appearance, the actress shared insights about their relationship while they were dating. This revelation sparked a lot of criticism. However, a few years later, the movie director responded to the critics with a firm statement.
In a recent discussion with Raj Shamani, Karan Johar was questioned about the intense criticism directed towards Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone following their appearance on his talk show, Koffee With Karan. In reply, the movie director voiced his strong disapproval, stating that the pair openly expressed their sentiments sincerely.
In my perspective, what transpired was rather absurd. I find myself at odds with the reactions that ensued. He shared his thoughts on the ‘admirable pair’, expressing admiration for their beauty, honesty, sincerity, and earnestness. Moreover, he emphasized that their love for each other is truly captivating.
He personally knows them and now they have a beautiful daughter. I admire their love story and choose not to judge it. That’s all he had to say about it.
In another statement, the director of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani shared that he has no regrets about anything said on the show since it was spoken in the heat of the moment. However, he voiced his concern after the criticism faced by Indian cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul following their comments.
The filmmaker expressed his relief that there was apparently minimal harm done, as they are both in excellent condition. They are national treasures, and a production like mine doesn’t diminish the national heroes. He had been concerned and anxious about this possibility.
As someone who wasn’t initially captivated by the cricket world, I found myself drawn in to witness the progression of these talented players. Their journey has been nothing short of intriguing, even causing me to veer slightly off my usual path.
Apart from what’s already been mentioned, the 52-year-old disclosed that he has never altered any part of his chat show discussions unless a guest explicitly asked him to make changes. He conveyed his appreciation towards his guests and confessed that he has no regrets about anything.
In terms of his professional work, the most recent movie produced by Karan Johar is titled “Kesari Chapter 2”, which stars Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday, and R. Madhavan.
