'Rick and Morty' Renewed Through Season 12 at Adult Swim

As a devoted fan of Rick and Morty for over a decade now, I can hardly contain my excitement! With this latest announcement, it seems like we’re in for a rollercoaster ride through the multiverse for another eight seasons! It’s mind-boggling to think that the show will take us up until 2029, but hey, who needs sleep when you have interdimensional adventures?

The animated series “Rick and Morty,” which won an Emmy, has been given the go-ahead by Adult Swim for seasons up to and including Season 12, extending the show’s run until at least 2029. The upcoming season 8 is set for release in 2025, with the announcement of its renewal coming just a year after the confirmation of season 10 (announced in 2023).

Information about the continuation of the popular animated series ‘Rick and Morty’ comes from executive producers Dan Harmon and Scott Marder, who made the announcement this week during their New York Comic Con panel. Accompanying them were regular cast members Harry Belden, Ian Cardoni, Sarah Chalke, Spencer Grammer, and Chris Parnell. In a statement by Michael Ouweleen, President of Adult Swim, he said, “Since its debut in Season One, Rick and Morty has set a new benchmark for adult animation and shows no signs of slowing down. The incredibly talented team behind Rick and Morty, led by Dan and Scott, are always pushing the boundaries, and I, along with millions of fans worldwide, am excitedly anticipating more exciting escapades in the future.” Harmon also expressed, “Nobody wants a universe without Rick and Morty. Fortunately, there’s an endless list of places for them to explore.

The fresh installments of the series will still focus on the exploits of television’s beloved mad scientist, Rick Sanchez, and his shy grandson, Morty Smith, as they journey through various dimensions aboard Rick’s spaceship. Co-creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland provided the voices for Rick and Morty until 2023 when Roiland was dismissed following allegations of felony domestic battery and false imprisonment. Despite the charges being dropped later, Roiland was substituted by Ian Cardoni as Rick’s voice and Harry Belden took over the role of Morty. Keep an eye out for updates on forthcoming seasons.
