As a seasoned gamer and a lifelong fan of Middle Earth, I’ve traversed many perilous landscapes and faced my fair share of Orcs, Elves, and even the occasional Balrog. The latest episode of Rings of Power left me on the edge of my seat, particularly the intriguing turn of events involving Galadriel and Adar.

In the captivating series “The Rings of Power,” the significance of the rings is fully unfolding, leading the elven characters on a crucial quest. By Episode 4, Galadriel, Elrond, and their team embarked on this journey, finding themselves at the border of Orc territory, engaging in a fierce battle with these monstrous creatures. As the story progresses, Morfydd Clark‘s memorable “Lord of the Rings” character hands over her ring to the elves, urging them to flee, while she herself stays behind to divert the Orcs’ attention. In what appears to be a dire situation, she squares off against Adar (Sam Hazeldine), the leader of the Orcs, leaving one to wonder if she might have been cornered.
According to the trailers for the Lord of the Rings prequel and the opening sequence of Episode 1 where Adar attempted to assassinate Sauron, it seems that she may not be in danger. Furthermore, during interviews with Morfydd Clark and Sam Hazeldine for The Rings of Power, they hinted at a partnership between their characters rather than a captor-hostage situation.
It appears that an alliance may be forming between Galadriel and Adar, given that their common adversary (Hazeldine, the new Orc leader in Season 2) shared this information with me. In simpler terms, they might find themselves on the same side due to their mutual enemy.
Let’s consider the potential of joining forces against danger, as we all find ourselves in peril. Given our initial strained ties, it’s important to note that elves and Orcs have never been allies. This is more like a cautious investigation into possibilities for cooperation.
Currently, it appears that Galadriel being ensnared by Adar’s chain and aiming a flaming arrow at him does not signal the beginning of a prudent alliance. However, if you consider the Orc leader’s statements, the motive behind his capture of her remains unclear, as he expressed in Quenya: “The intent of my capturing her is obscure.”

As a devoted fan, I must admit, moments before the episode concluded, I felt a shiver of fear creep over me as I watched Galadriel’s face. Yet, in one of the trailers for The Rings of Power, there’s a shot where she and Adar are walking side by side (as shown in the screenshot below). At that precise moment, Hazeldine’s character can be heard over the voice-over, adding an intriguing layer to the scene.
Sauron is my enemy as much as yours.
Given that Galadriel and Adar both have Sauron as their mutual adversary, and considering Sauron’s increasing manipulations of Celebrimbor to forge the rings this season, it seems logical that an alliance between the elven queen and the orc leader could be strategically beneficial.
In the upcoming Season 2, Morfydd Clark’s character is expected to form an alliance with others based on their mutual experiences of trauma. This was hinted during our conversation.
Adar comprehends her on a level that her elven kin cannot, for he has been tricked by Sauron. As such, they share a bond born from their deepest struggles, a connection that is often difficult to endure.
She makes such a good point. In Season 1, we were with Galadriel as she was deceived into thinking Sauron was the heroic Halbrand, and the betrayal deeply impacted her. Plus, we know that Adar has a storied and terrible history with the evil being. So, even though the elves and Orcs historically haven’t gotten along, this partnership seems like it could benefit everyone trying to take down Charlie Vickers’ villain.
Right now, we’re wondering if things will pan out successfully. Can they manage to set aside their disagreements and cooperate? Based on Clark and Hazeldine’s remarks, it seems likely. But Galadirel’s reaction towards Adar in Episode 4 hints that the journey toward a successful partnership might be a lengthy one.
I’m glad there are plenty of episodes remaining in the second season of The Rings of Power, and I’m eagerly anticipating the development of the relationship between these two characters.
