Riri Williams: The Ironheart Who Can Finally Face Iron Man’s Missing Villains!

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Robert Downey Jr.’s character Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, didn’t get to battle many of his comic book adversaries. However, Dominique Thorne’s character Riri Williams might have the opportunity to take on those villains in her upcoming series, ‘Ironheart’. Initially, Iron Man was the MCU’s central figure during its early phases, starring in a trilogy within five years and kick-starting the era of heroes in Phases 1 and 2. The journey of Iron Man in the MCU was thrilling, filled with numerous fights, collaborations, crossovers, and events that reshaped the world between the events portrayed in ‘Iron Man’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’.

Following the invention of the original Iron Man armor, I, Tony Stark, encountered numerous adversaries across the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Iron Monger, Whiplash, Justin Hammer, Loki, the Chitauri, Aldrich Killian and his Extremis troops, Baron Strucker, Ultron, Baron Zemo, Captain America and his team, the Black Order, and Thanos were some of the primary foes I battled throughout the Infinity Saga. However, there are quite a few villains I’ve never crossed paths with despite engaging them countless times in the original comics.

Iron Man’s Lack Of Villains Was One Of The MCU’s Biggest Tony Stark Flaws

Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man Never Met Many Of His Comic Book Villains

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Iron Man has encountered numerous adversaries, but only a few are traditionally recognized as his comic book enemies. Characters such as Iron Monger, Whiplash, Justin Hammer, and Aldrich Killian typically fit this description. However, notable villains like Crimson Dynamo, Fin Fang Foom, Blizzard, Ultimo, and Titanium Man have yet to appear in the MCU. Characters such as Living Laser and Firepower, who are less well-known but could have made good fits for the Iron Man films, were unfortunately never introduced or even hinted at.

In summary, Shang-Chi and Ant-Man will face Wenwu (the Mandarin) and Ghost as their primary adversaries, respectively, while MODOK and Madame Masque have often been at odds with Tony Stark (Iron Man). However, these characters haven’t crossed paths with Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal of Iron Man. The upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Armor Wars, could potentially introduce some of Iron Man’s comic book villains; if the project progresses at Marvel Studios, it might be War Machine (played by Don Cheadle) who subdues them instead.

Ironheart Gives Iron Man’s Missing Villains A Chance To Appear In The MCU

Riri Williams Could Fight All The Iron Man Villains Tony Stark Couldn’t

In the movie Avengers: Endgame, Iron Man’s storyline concluded permanently, which means his rogues cannot be connected to him retrospectively. However, Riri Williams, who made her appearance in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, is stepping into the role of a hero in Ironheart during Phase 5. Her primary antagonist is Parker Robbins, also known as the Hood, who may or may not have connections with Mephisto or Dormammu. If Ironheart defeats the Hood, she could potentially bring justice to those villains that Iron Man left unattended and introduce them on either the big or small screen.

As a movie enthusiast who’s excited about Ironheart’s upcoming debut, I can’t help but ponder over her potential villains. In the comics, she’s squared off against characters like Lucia von Bardas and Rhino, but it’d be thrilling to see her build a rogue gallery of her own in the MCU. This would not only enrich Ironheart’s storyline but also offer a fresh take on some of Iron Man’s classic adversaries who haven’t had their live-action debut yet. Characters like Blizzard, Crimson Dynamo, and Ultimo might find it challenging to make an appearance in future MCU projects due to the franchise’s crowded landscape. However, by introducing them as Ironheart’s foes, they could step into the limelight and deliver the epic battles we crave!

Ironheart Deserves To Fight Iron Man’s Missing Villains

Iron Man’s Legacy Could Take The Form Of His Enemies

Since Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man journey has ended and it seems unlikely that the character will reappear, especially with Downey taking on Doctor Doom, Riri Williams no longer has a direct on-screen connection to Tony Stark. However, apart from Stark’s impact on Riri’s inventions, Iron Man’s influence might persist through his villains. Just as the actions of Iron Man unintentionally spawned adversaries like Mysterio, Vulture, and Baron Zemo, the armored Avenger could leave behind several tech-focused antagonists for his technological successor, Ironheart.
