Rohit Shetty extends his support to actors on high entourage costs; says 'prices for everything have gone up'

As a dedicated follower of the Indian film industry, I have seen how the discussion around entourage costs has become a hot topic among insiders. Recently, during an interview with Rohit Shetty, the acclaimed director of the Singham Again film, I gained some valuable insights into his perspective on this issue.

The topic of entourage costs has generated much buzz within the entertainment industry. Notable figures such as Karan Johar and Farah Khan have shared their views on this matter. In a recent interview, Rohit Shetty, director of Singham Again, spoke candidly about entourage costs and acknowledged that it’s not just limited to actors – prices have risen across the board.

‘When we talk about the cost, it is not just the actors,’ says Rohit Shetty

In an interview with News18 Showsha, Rohit Shetty spoke about the controversy surrounding entourage costs. Unlike others, he defended the actors in his response.

When discussing expenses, it’s important to note that it’s not only the cost of the actors that has increased. The prices for travel, tickets, and accommodations have all risen as well. It’s not just about the actors; the overall costs have gone up for various things. To clarify further, even though an ensemble cast requires a significant investment, it doesn’t mean that’s the sole cause of the budget increase.

Rohit Shetty opens up on VFX usage

The director additionally discussed his use of computer-generated imagery (CGI) in the movies. He mentioned that it’s now common practice for people worldwide to employ visual effects (VFX). Rohit described it as “less laborious and riskier” than actual hand-to-hand combat. However, he assured us that the fighting scenes in his upcoming project (Singing Again) will still be authentic, featuring both real combat and CGI.

Here’s what Karan Johar said about the entourage costs

As a lifestyle expert, I’d put it this way: During the trailer launch of Kill, someone asked me, Karan Johar, about the increasing entourage expenses in our industry. In response, I shared my perspective, “To be honest, the entourage costs aren’t our primary concern. It’s the actors’ main compensation that needs a fresh look.”

Actors need to fully comprehend the current trends, movie industry climate, and the challenges involved in producing a large-scale film.

He explained that due to the large number of expenses, including production costs paid upfront, it’s financially unfeasible to produce the film.

As an obsessed fan, I’d put it this way: The director of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani jokingly remarked that actors can bring as many entourages as they desire, but the real challenge lies in managing their hefty production budgets, which I like to call their “mothership costs.”

Kjo continued by explaining that there are various factors to consider when negotiating deals, such as profit shares, box office slices, and performance-based compensation. However, it’s essential for actors to be grounded in reality and assess their worth honestly.
