Roku has reached more than 90 million streaming households as of the first week of January 2025.
On Tuesday, the streaming service announced an update, having earlier in October mentioned that they would stop sharing quarterly figures concerning their streaming households and average user revenue. At that time, the company boasted a streaming base of approximately 85.5 million households.
Following the recent disclosure by free ad-supported streaming platform Tubi (which rivals the Roku Channel), revealing they have 97 million monthly active users, Samsung’s FAST service, TV Plus, has declared that as of the end of October, they boast 88 million monthly active users.
Since May 2023, Pluto TV, one of the major competitors within the FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television) sector, which is owned by Paramount, has not disclosed its number of active users. Back in May 2023, it reported having approximately 80 million monthly active users.
Anthony Wood, Founder and CEO of Roku, stated that our company stands out in the streaming industry due to our vast scale, boasting more user interaction than any other TV operating system in the United States. Our commitment to making the streaming experience as straightforward and enjoyable as possible has made us the go-to choice for millions of viewers. I’m truly thankful to our customers, partners, advertisers, and team members for their contributions that have led us to this significant achievement.
Previously, I’ve shared that Roku would place greater emphasis on platform revenue and profitability over the total number of streaming households. However, I’m excited to share that we have some significant achievements to unveil, including surpassing the milestone of 100 million streaming homes.
