As a fashion enthusiast who cherishes the unique stories behind every designer, I must say Rolf Ekroth‘s journey is nothing short of fascinating. From social work to poker, and finally to fashion design, his life has been a whirlwind of unexpected twists and turns that have led him to create a truly remarkable collection.
Some individuals set their paths from point A to B to C quite early, but not Rolf Ekroth. Originally a social worker and later a poker player, he opted for a different career path due to the emotional and financial stresses of gambling. Instead, he found a new calling in the fashion industry. As a Finnish designer, he offers a distinctive approach to gender-neutral clothing with an emphasis on technical sportswear that tells compelling stories connected to his cultural roots. This unexpected transition has been beneficial for the world of fashion.
Ekroth’s Spring Summer 2025 collection, titled Lavatanssit, draws inspiration from the charming dances of the Finnish countryside and transports us into a dreamy world filled with flowers. This collection was debuted at the Poolen warehouse space during Copenhagen Fashion Week 2024, where it was accompanied by a soundtrack of Finnish folk music that created an interesting ambiance. The line featured various items such as technical outerwear, double-breasted blazers, life jackets, and dresses, all embellished with dandelion prints, tartan patterns, and camouflage designs.
Among the highlights of the show, a unique pair of blue jeans is intricately designed with 250 dandelions, giving them a lively, fluid motion that mimics the movement of a field of flowers in the wind. Puma Speedcat OG sneakers were prominently featured on every model, along with oversized knitted clothing items such as cardigans and jumpers. Take a look at the entire collection in the gallery above for a full view.
