Rolls-Royce has made a significant announcement about investing over $370 million USD to extend its production plant at Goodwood, which represents the company’s biggest financial pledge to this location since it initially opened in 2003.
The 2024 expansion plan is focused on boosting the company’s ability to handle custom and specialty car projects (Bespoke and Coachbuild), due to a growing interest in luxury cars that offer a high level of personalization. Rolls-Royce recently reported a 10% yearly increase in the worth of these custom features, setting new records. Currently, more than 2,500 people work at this facility, and plans are in place for further expansion as groundwork has already begun.
2021 stood out as a remarkable year for Rolls-Royce’s Customized division, showcasing exquisite orders adorned with materials such as 18-karat gold and holographic paint finishes. The Middle East took the top spot in terms of bespoke value, with North America and Europe not far behind. Furthermore, the Coachbuild program showcased the Arcadia Droptail, a testament to Rolls-Royce’s enduring tradition of crafting exclusive, high-end masterpieces.
Rolls-Royce sold 5,712 cars last year, making it the third best sales year ever for the company. The introduction of four new vehicles, such as the Cullinan Series II, Ghost Series II, and the electric Spectre, boosted demand. North America continued to be Rolls-Royce’s biggest market, while countries like Thailand and Malaysia also experienced significant growth in sales.
