As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for both virtual and real-life automobiles, I must say that the unveiling of Ronnie Fieg‘s Kith x BMW 1981 M1 E26 collaboration leaves me utterly awestruck! My heart races at the sight of this masterpiece, a perfect blend of history, innovation, and contemporary style.
Designer Ronnie Fieg, along with his brand Kith, have revealed the next stage in their collaboration with BMW: a customized 1981 BMW M1 E26. This is the third installment of their partnership, demonstrating a fusion of BMW’s rich automotive heritage and Kith’s modern perspective.
Reinterpretation by Fieg of the initial M Division masterpiece from BMW, the M1, honors both history and ingenuity. This vehicle underwent an intricate overhaul spanning a year, incorporating original parts retrieved from BMW’s archives. The car boasts the sought-after Techno Violet hue, one of BMW’s scarcest colors, paired with a unique Kith M-Series badge on its rear decklid.
The interior is equally impressive, featuring BMW Individual Black Merino Leather with Kith’s signature monogram pattern. This intricate design embellishes the seats, headrests, gear shift, door inserts and floor mats, adding a luxurious touch to the classic sports car.
Beneath its sleek exterior, the M1 continues to exhibit the same impressive performance capabilities. Equipped with a 3.5-liter inline-six engine, it generates 277 horsepower and can reach an approximate top speed of around 165 mph. These numbers solidified its reputation as the fastest German sports car during its release period.
As a passionate gamer, let me tell you, pouring my heart and soul into this project has been more than just work – it’s been a labor of love. Redesigning this iconic Italian-designed, German-engineered masterpiece from my unique perspective has taken me on an unforgettable journey. Seeing Techno Violet come to life on the M1 is like realizing a long-cherished dream.
On December 6, 2024, a unique BMW car is set to make its first appearance at the Kith Showcase for BMW, which will take place at the parking garage on 1111 Lincoln Road in Miami, Florida. This venue will also showcase Fieg’s collection of customized BMW cars, along with possibly a coordinating capsule collection.
