As a passionate advocate for environmental justice and a concerned citizen who has witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of climate change, I wholeheartedly support the “Too Hot Not to Vote” campaign. The heat waves we’ve been experiencing are no laughing matter, but as they say, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade…or in this case, when the planet is heating up, use your vote to cool it down!

Following a scorching heatwave, Climate Power launched a pertinent voter outreach initiative called “Vote When It’s Too Hot.” This phrase emphasizes the urgency of casting ballots during this extreme weather event.

The program, aimed at inspiring, informing, and energizing the public to support candidates advocating for climate change and renewable energy in the upcoming elections, boasts a list of well-known personalities as its leaders, such as Rosario Dawson, Bill Nye, Sophia Bush, Jack Schlossberg, Misha Collins, Sierra Quitiquit, LaTricea Adams, Piper Perabo, and Pattie Gonia. Their roles will involve rallying voters to take action and prioritize climate matters in 2021.

The upcoming climate initiative will collaborate with 13 groups such as the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund, NRDC Action Fund, Sierra Club Political Committee, Extreme Weather Survivors Action Fund, EDF Action, TREEage, and Feminist Green New Deal Network. With digital videos, celebrity involvement, media coverage, a content creator program, and grassroots activities, Climate Power aims to influence young women under 40, particularly mothers and women of color in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

Climate change is affecting us more than ever before, from extreme heatwaves to unpredictable weather conditions. I’m supporting the ‘Too Hot Not to Vote’ movement as it gives us a platform to elect leaders who prioritize our environment and communities. This election matters greatly; we should back candidates who are dedicated to finding climate solutions and shun those who would take us backwards.

Renowned science communicator, television host, and public figure, Nye, emphasized that the forthcoming election holds unprecedented significance for humanity. His message was to “cast your vote with a focus on the climate.

Bush emphasized, “We’ve reached a critical juncture, and the ‘Too Hot Not to Vote’ campaign serves as our rallying cry. Let’s harness our influence to back those who will genuinely advance progress and tackle the environmental inequalities that disproportionately affect Black and Brown communities. It’s high time we transformed our worries into action at the voting booths.
